Good? Bad? What do you think? I'm about to drop $250 on it, so looking for some opinions. Thanks! Seems like a well designed, light 3.8 lb pack that will hold 3800ci. I'm mostly concerned about the durability. I had a chance to look at the NimRod packs today, the Apex seemed pretty nice as well. Any comments on those? I will make sure to check out the Sitka packs as well before I purchase.

Badlands are #1. You can not go wrong with any Bandlands.
there warrenty the best

I have had the Badlands super day pack for the last two years and they are super nice! There super comfortable and you can load them up and you cant really tell the weight difference. The badland packs are definitely worth the money.

I heard that the sacrifice is super loud! I have a badlands hypervent that I use scouting and climbing in the summer, its a good pack, but I like my Sitka pack WAY more.

What do you plan on hunting? What will you use it for? checked out Eblerstock blue widow

Using the pack for boning out deer, bear, elk, packing in possibly 10 miles, and dayhikes. I have had a Kelty Morraine for years, it's a 3200 ci pack, always worked well, but finally has bit the dust. Last 2 yrs used a Cabela's pack, not sure the model/name, I've had it 10 yrs, and it hasn't held up, so looking into something in the upper 3000 ci range.
I bowhunt, and rifle hunt, and do not need the pack to hold either. I have found the eberlestock packs to be nice, but with too many gadgets which is why I kind of like the sacrifice. I'm more concerned with the durability of the zippers and material, over the noise of the material.

My :twocents: Look at the sitka packs, higher quality imo. And they have a good warrenty, not as good as badlands, but still pretty darn good

For gear packing Badlands, for meat packing get a Bull Pac.
-
Any stores in W.Washington that carry the Sitka packs or the bull pac? I'd like to check them out as well.

The only place I can think of is Cabelas

Badlands has a good warranty. Which sitka pack are you wanting to compare the sacrifice to? I have no firsthand knowledge with the sacrifice, but from reviews and user reports, its light, and pretty strong. But noisy, and you need a good pack cover as they are not as waterproof as other badlands packs.

NO!!!!!!! Sacrifice is no good for washington. Not waterproof to start and the frame squeaks something fierce. I used one this last bow season and wouldnt recommend it. My hunting partner had the same problem. I sent mine in for repair( ripped) and got a new one that I sold on the bay. If the pack was at least water resistant I might of kept it.
Wife got me a blue widow for xmas and I believe this will be a much better pack. Definetly check em out.

From my experiance, most badlands packs squeek until you break them in, my hypervent was very loud when I bought it, but it has gotten better.
-
:yeah:
I have the 4500 and the warrenty is awesome. I also had to load up the pack in the off season and do some backpacking before the squeek would go away. But it is gone now and I wouldn't trade the pack for anything.

Squeak didn't come on until after 4 or 5 trips. Packed two bulls out and it never got better. My 2200 doesn't squeak at all. This skinny lil frame on the sacrifice is the culprit.
-
Are you sure you need a pack that large? As for packing-out elk quarters; nothing holds a candle to the old Army-surplus plywood & canvas packboards. I've inherited two that have more than 40 years history of hauling out Idaho elk and they're still going strong.

The pack really isn't that big once compressed down with all the straps. It is a well thought out pack outside of the waterproof and squeak issues. I hope they resolve them. I really think if they can waterproof this pack and come up with a different coating for the wire frame that they will have a winner with the sacrifice. Until then I would look else where. Just my .02
