4 cups H20
3 cups sugar ----Boil for 5 min then cool
Add 1/5 grain alcohol (everclear is best, but vodka will work) + 1/5 H20
1 oz extract, peppermint, cinnamon or whatever floats your boat. You may start with less and add to taste. It can get kinda strong.
Great for ice fishing or for after the hunt activities.
Any other ideas?------Post'em up!

EVERCLAER !!!! >:( >:( >:( :hello:
You don't like Everclear?

I don't see much fishing being done once the drinking starts!!
-
Hmmm...I might have to try a variation of that!!
-
Everclear makes me think back to a boda bag and movie theater in Wasilla Alaska.

When you say 1/5 grain alcohol, are you using a whole fith (750ml) a whole bottle?

Home made Kahlua ! 12 cup pot of coffee the flavored chocolate kind One half gallon of grain Alcohol. Clear springs 190 proof from OR, 10 cups Sugar,1 tbsp. Vanilla pure
Bring water and sugar to rolling boil, stirring constantly. Once at boil, stir in coffee. Remove coffee/sugar mixture from heat, cool to room temperature. Once at room temperature stir in Everclear, vanilla and chocolate extract. Pour Kahlua into plastic capped bottles, stirring occasionally.
The plastic capped bottles is important because metal capped liqueur bottles will let stuff grow on the sugars..
Take a TALL glass fill with ice put 5 oz in cup and fill with 2% milk... Great for after hunt. Have 2 of those and don't worry about dinner! ;)

How long with this store for? does it need to be refrigerated?
-
I bought some Everclear last year so I could make the "pie".
Never did get around to it...yet. I have some refrigerated that my aunt gave me and it's about 1.5 years old...still tastes like apple pie!
-

I'll have to try that one. We'd mix whiskey and apple juice from time to time. Stuff will get you in trouble though!

Here's the recipe for my cordial wine... the girls love it and it really sneaks up on you...
You need: one 1/5 of 100 proof vodka
40oz of Berries/ chopped fruit
5 cups sugar
empty 1 gallon jug (empty milk/water jugs work great)
Take all of the ingredients and put them in the jug. Seal the jug and shake well. let stand in cool dark place for 2 months. After it has sat for 2 months strain through some cheese cloth(very important) and bottle.
When serving mix with either 7 up or soda water (it cuts the syrupiness) I usually mix it 50/50 with soda water (less sugary)
You can't taste any alcohol.

You are right! We are coming out of the closet :chuckle:
Washington has its first distillery since prohibition (Dry Fly in spokane) and all these budding distillers just waiting for the big break!

Randomly saw the apple pie on a show tonight! Mentioned something about a little vanilla also, thought that might be a good addition.
-
I have used this site for both the Rasberry and Apple recipes. And both turned out good.

I'm thinking with that much 190 proof in it, it's not going to go bad... :dunno:
-
never tried apple pie.... gotta try it tho  ive only heard good things (from those who remember well enough to recall the taste :chuckle:)
in wa the everclear isnt the 190 proof "good *censored*" its only like 150 proof.... or sometihng like that... i think in oregon you can get it ALOT stronger than in wa.... dont quote me on that tho
anyway
last march we took 4 pounds of fresh peaches, skinned and quartered them, and then put it in a very very large resealable clasp style mason jar with 2 fifths of 150+ everclear.... we stashed it way in a dark closet for 6+ months.... and once the peaches turned to mush, we just added a bottle of 80 proof vodka, and mashed it up until it was just pure liquid.... needless to say i want to try it with huckleberrys, apples, and pears.... my aunt in california makes it with fresh apricots from the tree in her back yard...
im gonna start another post about stills and home made booze
-
my buddy makes 50-70 liters of plum schnapps every summer. It's wicked stuff that goes down smooth with taste and kicks you about 4 seconds later.
I have had some pretty good home made schnapps over here. Around where I'm at near the German French border i think its like a wine/schapps mecca
-
I made a batch of teh Apple Pie last week. Took some to a friends house and had a few taste testers there and they loved it.
Went to a banquet for the Retreiver club that night, had some in my truck still and was talking about it to a few friends and we snuck it in and passed it around a little bit. Everyone loved it. Made a fresh batch with a little less sugar and 1/4 tsp of ground cloves for a friend on friday and took it to her yesterday, she loved it and thought it was better then the first batch.
Gotta find some "Root Beer" extract to make some schnapps now.......
-
I've got a shipment of everclear coming from Montana this weekend. I'm excited!

Whats the rootbeer extract recipe Gasman?

Does it need to vent or do you SEAL it tight so it doesn't get any air?

Whats the rootbeer extract recipe Gasman?
Root beer extract for making some schnapps. We really like Root Beer Schnapps and can kill a couple bottles in a weekend or a bottle durring a party.
We like to drink "Barrel Rolls". Drop a shot root beer scnapps in a beer and slam it. Taste like a root beer float, well sort of.
We found a 100 proof root beer schnapps down in Cali. but you can't get it here :bash: it's made by Phillups, and called Phillups Root 100. Very taste stuff there.
-
Thanks

Only the 160 proof. Not the 190proof. You gotta go out of state for that or make it yourself.
-
Yep, for the 190 proof, gotta go out of state... :'(

Hey Bone, add a 1/8-1/4 tsp of ground cloves (to your taste).
I did this on my second batch and
I also reduced the sugar to 3 cups. It was not as sweet as the original recipe ;)
If you like sweet, then stay to the recipe.

What the heck are you making with all that??
Looks like you could open your own package store

Sand in your shorts is a popular drink at Red Robin. Its a good summer drink. I didn't realize you practically need a science degree to make the thing. Good thing I am a lab person.

Schnapps makes me :puke:

I always put in the cloves but have never ground them. I also have never put in any sugar. That has to be some sweeeeeeeeet stuff. With no sugar I wouldn't be able to guess that there was any alcohol in it.
