Ok, what are you all using to carry your gear into the field? Looking for recommendations. This would be for day hikes, primarily in the hills where I hunt. 1 long lens needs to fit in it also. Like a 400mm f/4.
Thanks for the reply

I have a Camera Backpack made by ProMaster that I really like.
It carries my:
Canon 70-200 L
Canon 400 L
Canon 1.4X L extender
Canon 580 EX flash
Flash L bracket and the off camera flash cord
3 compact flash card zippered cases that each one has 12 cards in
Lens cleaning kit and lens pen
4 BP-511 batteries
Electronic shutter release and a spare set of batteries for it
Sadly I don't have room for my camera in the bag anymore, but that is always in a foam camera sleeve and hanging around my neck when I'm out.

I have a Kelty that I have had for ten hard years and it is still in as good of shape as it was when i bought it. I also carry a Badlands that i like a lot too, and the only trouble that i have had with it is, the piece of the zipper that you pull on breaks easily!

Dick, do you know what model you are using?

I have a Lowepro Flipside 300, and a Tamrac Adventure, both of which would work fine for your 400mm. I would like something bigger myself, just because I tend to put a lot of hiking gear, water, etc. in my bag as well. I've yet to find a larger one I like, in a back pack style.
