Title: Picked up a couple Metalheads
Post by: Prime Time on February 06, 2011, 10:21:51 PM
Finally got around to hitting up the river the other day. Between a buddy and I we ended up hooking 4 on the day. Felt nice to get out and wet a line since I'm finally done chasing birds around.

Did he say where they were caught? This is why I will never post a pic on this site. The "experts" always have somethin to say...

Beautiful fish.

Remember to keep native steelhead in the water unless you plan on retaining them.

Since retention of native steelhead doesn't start until Feb 16., if this photo is in Washington, the gentlemen in the photo is breaking the law.

People bitch and moan about there not being any fish left and on and on and on......but seem to refuse to do anything about it. As per the example in this thread.

Delayed mortality from fish handling is a real issue. Even though you may think that the fish was in good health when you released it, it may suffer the consequences at a later time. And having your fingers inside the operculum (as it looks like this gentlemen does) is almost a guarantee of delayed effects/mortality.

If you want to make a difference, FOLLOW THE LAW...incidences such as the one pictured above add up. This isn't something that was invented just to make life harder on sportsmen. It is a real issue with real consequences.

what i am tired of is people assuming things. Those could be quinault hatchery fish for all we know. i would never do anything to hurt a wild steelhead but i think taking it out of the water for 2 seconds to snap a photo is not out of line. unless your sticking your fingers in the gills...

It amazes me to see how someone cant be proud of another sportsmans wonderful experience. if this was a picture of me (280lb 6'2" inbread lookin type) i would understand but this man obviously looks to be a upper class citizen enjoying the out doors and is most likely not going to post pictures if he is partaking in illegal activities.  One would think we could be mature enough and advise someone of the "real consequences" of an assumed illegal act thru a personal message, but a drama free world i guess does not exist. high school all over again... Those are some beautiful fish prime time i am very jealous and hope one day i will be able to catch some fish of that quality!

Have a wonderful morning all,

Harry.

first fish is a hatchery fish, second one appears to be a hatchery misclip.

fun little river to fish when it doesn't have a bunch of people all over!  last 2 times i've been down there i've fallen in, and i never do that...

Native fish can be a touchy subject, especially when it comes to rules that may or may not appear to be broken. Even the title if the second one is "Native" so I little questioning is not out of line in my opinion.

Anyway, nice fish.

Thanks to all who jumped to my defense, but to solve this debate I just decided to take the pictures off. I don't want to start, or be apart of any drama that goes on on here, not what I'm here for. I just came onto this site to share my love and passion of the outdoors with fellow members. Have a good evening and good luck to all in your future adventures.
