Any opinions on the Martin compound Bows. I'm new to archery and found a shop in my area that carries the Martin line.

From what I was told they only have a three year warranty. Most other brands have a lifetime warranty. That is all that I know about them.

Martin is a good brand with a great product and even better customer service. They just don't do the big advertising like most of the more popular brands. I shoot an '02ish Martin Phantom Magnum and used it for target shooting but now hunt with it. Took my first deer this year with it. The bows are fast and just as cutting edge technology as any other brand. The factory is just out side of Walla Walla so you can always take it there and have a pro look at it like I have. They even gave me a one on one tour of the facility with a couple hats as a parting gift. I also like the fact their bows aren't as expensive as some of the more popular brands who jack up the prices just to pay for the advertising. Martin is a quiet mom & pop archery company. They also make more than just bows.

Down here in the Tri-Cities, a lot of guys that are resident hunters, like them, but i believe the main real reason is that they are made locally, In Walla Walla! All the the pro's that i have talked to, (Beins that i too have to been in the market for a new bow), lately have said that they haven't kept up in technology in the last couple of years. I still think they are decent, but through the process of shooting a bunch of different bows, I have crossed Martin off of my list!

My buddy likes his, I have never shot one though. They are made locally like mentioned. I think someone on here had a problem with their limbs separating or something like that...Might try a search for it.

I love my pantera. Took a deer first year owning it. It seems a lot cheaper than other options and it is just as good or better than others.

Hoyt to Martin. Martin is a great bow to start out with. You are not going to be paying the huge $'s for them like a Hoyt. Martin has the best customer service around. Hoyt is one of the top of the line bows, new they run around the $1000 mark. Go to a bow shop find what fits you.

Pse/Hoyt is what I would say. Hoyt is very good, a lot of the bows are now days. I own 9 diffrent brands if I remember right, hard to keep track with as many as I have ;) The only brands i will not own is bowtech and martin. I have had bad things happen with both brands. Martins "have had" some limb troubble. They are a decent begginers bow, and pretty decent now days for the money.

I have owned 3 martins and never had a problem. Also thinking about a new firecat or onza.

All the martins that I've shot felt "cheap". More vibration than other bows and loud. I haven't shot any of the higher end martin bows of late though. They may be better. You will see once you shoot a few bows. It will be obvious what is good and what is just so so.

For what it's worth, Look into Martin Archery. Made in Walla Walla. I shoot a Bengal. You can get it in a package deal any where from $800 to $460 depending what you are looking for in the package. I've been shooting it for 3 years and am happy with the performance for an American made bow. Also the customer service at Martin is outstanding. I lost a piece to my quiver, they replaced it for free. When I was there I asked about a part for an older Martin bow that my buddy needed, they gave that to me free as well. Couldn't be happier.

I just bought an Exile, and as I hand it to Charlie at Peninsula Pro Shop, he tells me they had some quality control issues recently, specifically with limbs de-laminating. The birth certificate rated it at 71lbs, but when I tightened down the limbs I got 83lbs. Makes me nervous.
