i was up wasting some gas this weekend.. wanted to see some elk in the colokum. i dropped down all the way to the west bar. only seen a small herd. I think they are moving up back to the tree line. I seen a crap load of deer. there was a small 3 x 2. i tryed getting a pic but camera was dead.

-
OH you must have been in the blues! Took a wrong turn I'd say  ;)

-
lol.. i gess they were right they all went to the blues this year.

-
They are hiding from Bigfoot.  :chuckle:

-
They were probably getting ready to watch the superbowl!!

-
i only seen one 6 x 6 and a true spike. and he had about 10 or so cows with him. he was about 3 ridges over. i didnt see big foot tho.

-
				Wow, a spike survived.

Unless of course he migrated there from the Blues.
-
you wont see a big foot up in the clockum unless its a decoy in a photo shoot. its very possable the elk were all congregated at a lucious food source just out of your field of view. look behind the trees, thier is usually an elk behind each one.

-
Shoot, a6x6, a spike and 20 cows, must have only looked behind 1 tree  :dunno:

-
ya i know there is a *censored* load. i bet they all moved over to the to the south side. i was all over the lower half. even went to the feilds.. didnt even see scat.

-
I like you  ;) keep checkin, they are in there.

-
i seen that too. its a good idea. they wont be pressured as much by people chasing them on quads and *censored*. two weekends ago i seen some people chasing a big heard on there quads. poor elk. half of them had there tongues out they had been running so much. i >:(

-
So many elk that they are a nuisance and people chase em off with quads? hmmmmmmm.......

-
Wagon_Burner, did you go in from the Wenatchee side?

-
i wounldnt say elk are a nuisance...  and yes c - money i went up on the wenatchee side last weekend... two weekends ago i was up on the e berg side.

-
Oh don't worry about me, just kind of building a case. C-money knows what I'm up to  ;)

-
oh cool... u guys go up there alot?

-
He is, I stay a little further east.

-
Jim is a challenge driven guy! He likes to go where you have trouble finding the critters! it's just to damn easy over there!

-
;), very cool that you are seeing them though

-
Just one  :dunno: The last one to from what Jack was saying  :bash: :bash:

-

I am looking forward to riding the Colockum this weekend. Hope to bring back some pictures. Wagon Burner, if you look a few threads on here with Pathfinder or Colockumelk in the title, you too will soon be saying "There are NO elk in the Colockum!" :chuckle: :chuckle:

-
I know the elk in the Colockum are still being "harvested" from tribes. I know of a 5x5 bull that was killed on Sat/Sun.

-
Thanks woody, I like you to  8)

-
hopefully you do bring some pics back c - money. what side you going up?    i seen those trheads they wrote. i dont think they know where to go.  ;)

-
We are going up on the e-burg side. Looking forward to it! First ride if the new year!

-
if you make it down the bruten and keep heading towards the west bar. there was a dead calf of the side of the road looks like the winter was to hard on it. but there is a bunch of eagles that sit around it would make for a good pic of the birds.

-
Well, we had a great time being out doors. Glad we were able to ride. My favorite spot this time of year was gated with a nice sign saying closed to motorized vehicles to protect wintering wildlife. Feb 1 to April 30. We went some where els and saw 4 elk, one with a collar on. No Bigfoot. Lots of wind!

-
Must have only checked behind one tree  :chuckle: Sounds like fun. any pics?

-
You know, I did not take a single pic. I had the camera with me, but no photo shooten. And yes, it was a lot of fun. Sure helped cabin fever!. We only rode 37 miles, but it felt like a full day. We saw the smoke from the White Swan fire, and looking east out accross the basin was just a dusty mess!
