for the last 5 or 6 weeks there's been a cow elk hanging out in one of our fields. i think it probably has a bullet or an arrow broke off in it because it never left with the heard. just says bedded down along a fence line. it gets up every now and then to eat though. im sitting here watching tv and it sounds like the coyotes finally got it. they were howling and yipping like crazy. i never realized how lound they can get! i went outside and the sound was comming from where that elk was bedded down. i shined my spot light at them and i could barely make them out. they're about 300 yrds from my truck and my spot light isnt very good. think they'll still be out there in the morning?

If they ended up getting that cow..then odds are they won't be too far in the morning.

well turns out they didnt get that cow. which suprised the the hell out of me. but they were still out there this morning. but by the time i got some clothes on and grabbed my rifle, they were working their way back into the timber, and i just couldnt get close enough for a shot.

Maybe the cow has hoof rot? :dunno:

They probably sensed she was weak and the pack got exited (hence all the howling) they will be back....go buy yourself a good spotlight ;)
