Cool pics for sure. What's up with the facial cuts? Get in a fight with a cat? :chuckle: Is that an arrow stuck in those antlers?

Now I really feel old..... :( 1982 pictures would have seen our elk camp look very similar. And I would have been young !! :yike: Army wool pants, flannel shirts, no blaze orange, etc. All those rigs are now what they all say is " vintage "

Yeah i will have to ask dad what the cut was on his face was.
i cherish these photos of my dad and hope to one day show my daughter and kids pics of me like this.

Very cool pics. I was only 2 years old in 1982 and I remember my family hunting and camping trips had the same fashion sense. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing Backwoods Boy.

Cool pics backwoods! I was 16 years old in 1982 and those photos bring back some great memories of my family elk camp. Thanks for sharing!
-
Outstanding!! I still have a collection of hunting mags from the 70's, love to browse through them and look at all the "new" truck ads:) Great pics.
-
Now that I think of it when I labeled that last pic, I labeled it wrong. It was 1984 the same year as this pic.and his first spike was in 1982. Old timers I guess.
-
How in hell did you guys get those elk? I don't see any swarovskis, sitka gear, $350 kennetrex boots, jacked up 4x4 diesel pickups, huskemaw long range scopes. Brings back great memories. I for one, would like to go back to those days of limited technology. Hell, I'd like to go all the way back to the 1800's.
-
This one is 1981 the Pic is taken from where we camped, at another camp just below us. The next year '82 no one showed so we moved down there and from then through 2005 was our regular camp except for 4 years that the weather and scouting dictated that we needed to camp in a lower area. in 2006 DNR logged the area near it and put in tank traps to keep folks out. Before that, green dot down to the camp area

hmmm... nov 82

My first 4 bulls (in a 4 yr. period starting in '62) were taken using a 3/4" tube Weaver model 330 scope side mounted on my .348 Win. Still have both. Yup, we had to sneak up on 'em. Great pics bringing back many great memories.
Thanks
Mike

Very cool pics. Reminds me of my first elk camp. I guess I really am old. :'(
-
Can't camp here anymore either 1984 again
-
Great pictures, its great fun looking at all the old pics
-
Ah the good old days.....
Snow was common
Any bull was fair game
2 week long November modern firearm seasons were the law
Men took their boys out of school for the week (if grades were good enough)
Elk hung in camps
I'd sure like to turn back the clock.

NOT alone there!
This one is of our father during the now defunct late hunt that was in the same geographical area as Malaga special permits that used to be open to all tag holders. I believe this is mid 1970's late November
We lost him in 1990 and have missed him ever since

This one 1981. We had gone up to the four corners (Old camp-toward new camp pic earlier) area and set up camp on Friday . Having forgot something friend an I headed back down to Wenatchee Saturday night via Jumpoff Ridge rd . As we got down just past the old lookout and across the cattle guard coming out under the powerlines I looked to the northern sky and faintly saw something that I thought could be the Northern lights. We could barely see it with our eyes, so we parked the truck set the old Nikon FE to an 8 second exposure setting on the hood of the truck which got me this.

1982 feels like yesterday. Not sure how I feel about that. Thanks for thinking of us and sharing your pictures.
