Title: Sturgeon Guide
Post by: 6x6in6 on February 18, 2011, 01:22:53 PM
Friend of mine is thinking of a sturgeon guided trip for he and his son.  Son is about 12.  They do fish but not a lot.  Bait my hook for me type....

Anybody have a good referral on a sturgeon guide on the Columbia?

He works in SoCal and comes home here once a month or so for a couple days.  He's thinking the first week of April.  Is sturgeon fishing decent/good then?

Thanks!!!

I like the stuff I have heard about this guy. I talked to him a little bit ago and he seemed decent. But I have not fished with him.

Once again, I have not fished with them but heard good things about them.

I second jonsoutdoors!

Great guide and very honest. several guides will book you when they don't even know when or if there is going to be a season. I have fished with Jon Ball 2x and around him allot. he's a true sturgeon guide not some wanna be. Most guides fish everthing els and when it's slow they fish for sturgeon. I see them follow Jon aroundon the river because he is the one who is ALWAYS on the fish.
He is useally booked up and can be hard to get a seat in his boat. most customers book their next trip before they get off the boat.

I just noticed you said first week in April. Good luck find a good guide that is not fishing Springers. You might sugest to yer buddy to try a springer trip as they will be just starting roll into the Willamete then. Talked to a buddy of mine who is a local guide on the Willamete and he is already starting to fill up. It's going to be a good run this year. I fisshed it with him 1 day last year and we hooked about 15 fish.

Fished with Kyle from fishingthegorge and he is excellent. He has put us on great fish every trip down. Highly recommended...definitely for someone who needs the extra mile he definitely will go there all we had to do was reel them in had a blast.
