Title: cca?
Post by: bowtech721 on February 23, 2011, 01:26:56 PM
Just wondering if any of you guys are cca members. Its seems like a good cause to support from the looks of it but i have heard more negative things about them than I would've thought from multiple people. I have heard plenty of reasons to join them but was wondering if any of you guys had legit reasons not to?

I'm a CCA member.

I might not agree with everything CCA stands for, but it is a worthy cause and IMO the only way we will see any change at the state level in our fisheries.  We need to take small steps to achieve long term changes.  What CCA offers is Strength in numbers.  Many small groups of people just dont pack enough weight when it comes to politics.  Do you pay attention to the bunch of chihuahuas nipping at your heels, or the big rottweiler?

Speaking of which... It is the season of CCA banquets around the state.  www.ccapnw.org (http://www.ccapnw.org) lists all the banquets and meetings under the events page.  I highly encourage everyone to go out and support the banquets.  Included in the price of your ticket are your membership dues for the year.

I was a member. I just can't swallow the gillnet BS on the Columbia. we are already seeing the effects of the SAFE ZONE crap that was sold to us. Smolt plants were transfered to other spots and are no longer being stocked in the tribs where us Sport guys like to target them. Just my 2 bits.

CCA has some good points also and I am glad to see sporties band together but just wish they would reconsider their approach on banning gillnets.
