Title: ruger 10/22
Post by: tony04 on February 28, 2011, 09:04:46 PM
me and a couple of other guys went shooting the other night with our 22's, and the type of shooting involved great accuracy. just fun little shooting games, like shooting cherios hanging from fishing line, shooting spend .22 casings, etc. i had a blast doing it, and now i want to make my 22 more accurate. whats the cheapest, easiest way to do so? i cant imagine buying a barrel that cost more than what i bought the gun for. but they must be worth it i suppose. i floated the barrel, but have yet to shoot it to see what differance it made. i mainly shoot bulk ammo. so far the blazers shoot the best. is there a way to lighten the trigger pull with out buying a new trigger assembly?

Check Rimfirecentral.com for 10/22 trigger mods.
Plenty of them...sandpaper and a hairpin are the expensive parts.

I you look around you can snag a er shaw bull unfluted for under 100 and pick up a hogue stock for 40 then the scope and rings could be spendy or not. I have been wanting to do it to my 10/22 for a while, and I think the barrel will make it more accurate then the trigger pull is next thing. You can spend thousands on a 10/22.

IMO, the best and most noticeable improvement would be a barrel upgrade.

As others have said, you can find great green mountain/er shaw barrels out there for around/under $100, and they'l make a huge difference in your accuracy. With mine, it was a night/day difference, never going back.

The easiest way to improve accuracy is get some better ammo.  Your accuracy can never be any better than that of your ammo.

Upgrade the barrel. Better ammo. Trigger job. Free float the barrel. Done all these to mine and its a totally different rifle. Snoop around Rimfirecentral those guys no how to trick them out.
