Title: Guided Springer Trip
Post by: carpsniperg2 on March 02, 2011, 09:30:56 PM: I was able to get a good deal on a springer trip for me and my cuzz. We will be fishing with kyle at fishingthegorge. I have heard a lot of good things about him. I will make sure I post up the results,with pics if we can catch anything :chuckle: My uncles boat should be here around the end of the month, and we will be on our own after that. Hope to learn a few new trick as well. I am thinking the the 2nd-3rd weekend of this month. We have not picked days yet but will soon. I am looking forward to giving him a try :IBCOOL: Hope he can put us on some fish and teach us a few new things :IBCOOL: Anyone on here fished with kyle before?

The area we are fishing will be just below the dam a little ways. But if the fishing is good we can always start fishing new areas :IBCOOL:

Kinda what I was thinking. Also any good guides know that the run will not be very far up by the 2nd or 3 rd weekend this month and that the erea below Bonni is closed.

You might think about looking for someone who knows the lower river better like Cathlamete or the Willamete or look into changing yer date till later above the dam. say later April. the springer run is off to a good early start this year.

With a comment like that I sure hope you know the guy. Kinda hard to assume he is not a good guide without knowing him. I was taught a old saying don't ever assume, because assumption is the mother of all *($% ups.

He said we will move where the fish are. It could be lower or higher :dunno: That is the area he thought we would be fishing. I know there has been fish starting to come over the dam right now. In a month I would think the numbers would be up to the dam. We are set to go the 27Th of this month.

Good luck with the trip. If yer guide is an Oregon liscenced guide see if he will take you on the Willi. odds are that will be where the hottest action will be.

Be sure and post a report and some pics of the trip.

Yeah I know right where it is. I drove past it today. Had to go to pdx :bash:

I think you took my words "just below the dam" the wrong way. What I was saying was to BigD, and that was: with that trip we will just be fishing below the dam. Not like in yards or miles, but meaning not above the dam, just below it. :chuckle:

There was also about 10-12 boats trolling right across from Corbett. One of the boats was hooked up, I about drove off the road watching :chuckle:

He is licensed in Oregon. So I will pick his brain about it, when it gets closer. Then I am sure he will have a better idea, of what area is hot. Always trust your guide :IBCOOL: unless he tells you to jump off a cliff :chuckle: If they know what they are doing, it will show fast! I will let everyone know how it goes, no matter what. For the price he gave me, even if we don't catch a thing. It will be a day of learing and picking up some new tricks for us to use. :IBCOOL:

We sat 4 of us in his boat and couldn't even touch the poles unless we had a bite. The guide set out the poles. Long story short, 2 bites and 1 fish for the four of us. The guide said "should have been here yesterday". We talked to the fish checker after he pulled away and the checker, who was there the day before, all day, said that he only checked 2 fish the day before and hadn't seen the guide bring in a fish for a few days.

I with you luck. From what I opserved while fishing with my buddy on his boat I would book a trip with Fishhawk if you get the chance he seems to be a fish slaying machine and very willing to share information and techniques.

But its more then double what I am paying for this trip. If its a flop I ain't out much money. Heck with the bait and fuel in his boat, that he will burn. He is not going to make much money on what we are paying him. If its a good trip, then GREAT but if its bad I won't loose much sleep over it. I will always pass on the good/bad and ugly. I don't sugar coat things. :chuckle: If its a great trip There will be 7000+ people on here that hear about it and all the members on ifish as well. If its bad work will get out to just as many people ;) No worries.

Or down river, your buddy is destroying them. After hockey this weekend will get the gear and boat ready to start rolling again.
