Just wondering how the hunting is south of Riffe Lake in the Coyote Mountain area? I imagine there's animals but I'm curious if the traffic from other hunters would make it worth it. In other words, if I go back far enough, is there a chance of getting away from all the folks? I appreciate any feedback.

Good luck if you want to try it. There are more hunters than deer in the unit. I would say if you saw 10 deer in a week you would be doing good. Winston may be the worst unit in the state for deer.

I've seen two bruisers during late archery elk, and both times were years I had a rifle deer tag in my pocket. . . :bash: Both were while still hunting timber. Never really glassed the cuts hard enough to spot deer, elk I usually spot with the naked eye in cuts, unless it's fairly deep reprod. All that said I'd say it's about like hunting anywhere else these days.

Seen some mashers in there late archery also, amazing how many drive right past good areas w/o really hunting.
