So i wanted to buy a ruger 10-22 for my trip to OR for rat shooting. I really liked the tapco stock carbine that ruger offers from the factory. The only place i could find it was Cheaper than dirt. The 2 reasons why i went this route was i liked the collapsible stock so that it will adjust don't so i can take my little girl shooting soon. The 2nd was i liked the 3 accessory rails and its tactical look. Now I've bought things form them in the past and so have friends and family and had happy results. I must say however my gun purchase experience was less than satisfactory. My FFL dealer sent the copy twice to 2 different email addresses and I sent it once. I place my order on sunday and the proper info and paperwork was emailed 7am Monday morning. It seems it has taken until today for them to get their :crap: together. I nearly canceled my order today, because i won't get it in time for my shoot. If i could have gotten it somewhere else, or my brother hadn't had a 10-22 already set up so i could use it, i would have canceled it. I will still likely buy accessories from them if i have to, but could not recommend them for firearm purchases. I wish Bob could have found some place to order it up for me even if i had to pay more. Experiences like this remind me that you PAY for service and my discounted price reflected it. >:(

That is why I don't buy a lot of things over the Net. Secondly I like to "feel" what I am getting. A book or clothing or vehicle accessories is one thing but I want that gun in my hand.

So far the only gun that I have bought online that shipped right away was a pistol off of Gunbroker, I paid and my ffl had the gun the next afternoon. Aside from that I consider it "quick" if a gun actually ships by friday if I order it monday, shipping times seem to be getting a lot longer for more money too due to businesses using the cheapest shipping available and then marking it up.

My one and only CTD experience was similar. Ordered binoculars...they didn't ship until a week after the order was placed. I don't think CTD carries an inventory...I think they just drop-ship from wherever.
Never again.
Super cheasy organization and they advertise some borderling illegal products.
I want nothing to do with them.

Definitly a pain, I shop on line for quite a bit of accesories, I order most of my bullets on line (mostly due to availability) but buy primers and powder locally to avoid extra shipping and hassel. All of my new guns have been purchased at Kesselrings. The way I look at it you are getting better personal service and avoiding the FFL transfer headache (tax)
Another huge consideration for me is the amount of money that goes back into the Shooting / Hunting communty when you buy locally, When I was a young buck shooting competitively, Kesselring did an outstanding job in supporting my team supplying guns at cost as well as shooting jackets and ammo. They also donate to or support most of the foundations like Ducks Unlimited, Pheasents forever, RMEF just to name a few. I know they do free FFL transfers for all the guns given away at our local banquets. Our local gun shops also stand up for our rights with the NRA and on a state level. Guns are they're livelyhood and they have to. No local gun sales, no local gun shops. I suggested in another thread that someone buy local and was given a $500.00 price difference as a responce. I have found price diffences on line before, one I remember was on a reloading press. I told Kesselrings about the difference and they matched the online price. No brainer for me. Another was on my Knight Bighorn I think it was about 100 dollars difference and they met me half way, I paid 50 dollars more but then they took the time to set me up with all the components I needed and gave me instruction on how to opperate the primitive contraption. These are just my feelings I know times are tough and every pennie save counts. In your case Special T you simply couldn't get the gun you wanted locally, but personally I wouldn't be able to walk into a place were they know me by name and say "I spent my money somewhere else, but can you do the paperwork for me?" :twocents:

I just bought an AK online, I got a GP75 AK, one steel magazine and 500 rounds of Silver Bear hp ammo for about $630 including tax and ffl transfer. The local guys wanted $500 + tax just for the gun :twocents: . They want about $200 just for the ammo. I buy local when I can and I understand making a buck with overhead but it sure seems like a lot of these guys just gouge the hell out of their customers.

My FFL and gunsmith offered up HIS ruger 10-22 for my trip! :yike: I'll be borrowing my brothers, but I hear ya all. I did order some steel lip butler creek mags and the auto loader for CTD and they arrived today... I don't know why i only see the plastic hotlips everywhere for sale...

Guys name is Bob Dites He does gun smithing, custom reloading, and sells firearms, He is out of Sedro Woolley. I happened up on him by accident. He just got done fixing my cousins Franchi auto loader 12 ga. It was missing a small spring, so he made one himself. And this is coming from a guy that says he doesn't really do shot guns...
Phishisgrouvin I'm 99% sure that is the stock the gun is coming with but black.

Well i just want to say i got my 10-22 in today. It arrived while i was out shooting prairie dogs, and just got around to picking it up. I'm excited to take it out and shoot it. It has the same stock as the above pic but black it has a rail on top for a scout style scope and one on the bottom that can be covered up with a slide on grip. I Just got to give Bob Dites Props again for loaning me HIS gun and for being a great guy to deal with. I highly recommend him for fixing guns, Custom reloading, and firearm transfers or purchases. He takes care of his customers, he loves his job and it shows.

I have only bought a couple things on CTD, ammo, cleaning supplies, etc. No problems and they have good prices. I actually buy alot of stuff online from Sportsman's Guide, and have had a great experience so far. They have excellent customer service, no hassle returns and good prices too. I really like buying local as well but when you can get a huge discount online, well hey... But most of the shops around here cant/wont match the online prices. DJ's was straight up about it and basically said 'sorry, I cant do it, but you can order it online and have it sent here', he completely understood and agreed that saving $50-$75 bucks or more is a good chunk of dough. I try to buy from them when I can but I have ordered several guns on Gunbroker, Auction Arms, and Guns America and no problems yet and I just bought at Sig P238 on Gunbroker for $575 new, cant find that price around here anywhere. I may have to check in to Kesselrings, never been up there.
