Im just getting around to mounting my 09 Bull antlers and need some advice.
Question I have is whats the proper way of placing the fabric on the form and getting a good finished look?
For the fabric I'm using a hair off tanned Deer hide, it's thin so it has some stretch to it.
When you cut the hide to go around the pedicule do you sew up the cut lines or do you overlap and glue?

Everybody has their own style. If the form you are using has wood on the back. I stretch around and staple. As for going around the pedicules. I cut it match the seams up and then glue. Then when finished I take 3 pieces of deer lace and braid them together and hilite the cuts.

Thanks guys thats what I have done in the past but wasn't sure, except I didn't hilite the cuts with braid only the pedicule.
My home made forms consist 1/2" plywood and a can of spray foam .
First time I've done it this way, I got the Idea from another member, so far it's been pretty easy, just next time I
need to remember the foam expands by three times or more :yike: :chuckle:

Here is my first. Just finished it, and feel good that I can now do the set I really want to do. I used 1/2 board as the base and paper mache mix as the form then sanded it down. I had issues with the fabric bunching up at the bottom, but figured it out just not in time for this one.

Nicely done Pin.

Thanks, this set isn't perfect, but it's my first. And only cost about $21.00 for everything.

Here's my Mulie mount I finished yesterday. Should have my bull and my buddies bull done tonight.
The plaque is a little small, but it's one I already had made up.

Lookin good Jason...that spray foam stuff is pretty easy to work with. I have a little hobby hack saw that makes it really easy to shape with before my final sanding. One of the Taxi's on here gave me a good suggestion for an alternative to the spray foam. I might give it a try.
