Title: Hunting partner for modern?
Post by: demontang on March 15, 2011, 03:17:42 PM
So last year was my first year going modern for elk and I had my spike down right at shooting light. I didn't have a partner and there was 3 more spikes that where in the herd. I'd like to find a partner to hunt with this year, I hunt rimrock normaly because I know where the elk are in that unit.

Generally, I'm a bowhunter but if I draw a multiseason and am still looking to fill my tag I'll look you up.  I actually went down to that unit last year to help a couple of guys out (no tag or weapon, just a spotting scope and packboard) just for the fun of hunting, so not looking for a free ride.

If I was modern rifle would go. Will be archery again this year. Demontang is a good guy and skilled hunter. Anyone would be lucky to go with him. :twocents:

Thanks ribka. If you need help with elk this year let me know, rimrock is a good place to stick a cow with an arrow.  And I'll gladly help anyone that needs help packing out an elk or deer. I pack my elk out mostly alone and with a bad pack last year (lesson learned).

Dude, I am archery hunting this year again, but if you want company and help, I would come upand be there   :IBCOOL:

I don't know if my daughter is going to elk hunt this year, if she does, I will give you a call. If not, I would be more then happy to join you in camp. I have joined others in camp just for the fun of it before and I am sure I will be doing it again.

Besides, being away from the wife and kids is a plus any time of year  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Lol it's dinner to have people to come back to camp and share stories. I've almost always been hunting alone for elk that last four years.

That is one of the places that you can loose people without even trying! You just have to go past the invisible fence  ;)
some years I hunt the blues for the first weekend and then join my dad and extended fam in the bumping above the tunnel. If that looks to be how this years goes then I will shout at you  ;) Always game to hunt with someone that likes to get off the beaten path and test limits in persuit of game! and I will help you pack before you last load  :chuckle:

I am trying to start hunting elk this season and have no knowledge of hunting areas yet. I would be willing to try and make a run with you. I can help pack out and learn hunting areas also. Give me a pm if you want to start some planning.

I have nearly 30yrs experience in the Bethel and Rimrock units...but haven't hunted elk in RimRock since the early 90's.  I know the landmarks, etc but I don't claim intimate knowledge of how the elk move there once the shooting starts...and I am an off and on elk hunter at best (my thing is waterfowl and deer).

I would love to hunt it again for modfire elk.  PM me if you're still looking for a pard.
