She's done boys, last post has a pic.
-
Sounds like a great gun.
-
Way cool.
-
Sounds like it will be sweet gun :IBCOOL:
-
Congrats on the graduation and the rifle!
What are you graduating from?
-
Thats gonna be nice!! Look forward to hearing what you think of the stock!
-
I could give a rip about how pretty the rifle looks. (OK, it has to be asthetically pleasing), but I'd like to know how well you like it and how it shoots. So along with photos of the rifle, post up some photos of your targets.

I'm sure the gun will perform flawlessly.... i think it's going to come down to if i do my job right or not
-
Sounds like a good combo. Make sure he puts glass in it for ya too, a swarovski or lieca will work. grin
-
Sounds like a great gun, I think you picked the best of the short mag calibers. :brew:
-
Haha yea I'll ask him if he has a Swaro lying around anywhere. I'm going to need to buy the scope, I've always had Leupold and am looking at a 4.5x14 vx3 for this gun.

I just finished up my Geography/Geographic Information Systems degree here at Central Washington University.
-
Congrats on both. Maybe you'll be able to convince more retailers to include their UTMs on their websites!!

That's it? LOL. Can't you always use more glass??? That gun can shoot a LONG ways. Don't wanna have to squint to see your animal do you? J/K. Sounds like a sweet setup.

I'm used to 3x9 so a 14x scope is going to look like a glassing through a telescope :chuckle:

So I finally found out where he was getting the cut rifling barrel from. Hes getting it from www.cutrifle.com (http://www.cutrifle.com) The barrels are made by a man named Dan Pendersen. So the barrel has been ordered and the McMillan stock is also on the way. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

its been a month, time for an update.......pics.

:yeah:
-
I'm ready for it too... McMillan stocks are on back order :bash:
-
dang that sucks.
-
Well we talked to our gunsmith and he is going to put a nice walnut stock on it due to the fact that the McMillan stock he ordered is on a 60-90 day back order. Once the McMillan stock comes in he said he would swap it out with the walnut stock and use the walnut stock on a rifle my dad is going to have him build. Hopefully it will be done soon.... this is killing me lol
-
Do you mind if I ask who is doing the work?
Andrew

Blue action and barrel, or stainless in a walnut stock? I love SS in a wood stock but you don't see that much any more.

i would only question the 4.5x leupy.....they are pretty tunnel vision to me......I have one myself. the 3.5x is more friendly.....have a peek at the 6500's too.
-
So it's finally done! The pic is a little crappy because my dad who got the rifle yesterday sent it to me via text message, Ill get better ones tomorrow when I actually go home and put my hands on it.
Its got a 24" custom cut rifling barrel made by Dan Pendersen out of Prescott, AZ, Model 70 trigger and action, Gray McMillan hunters edge stock. The barrel is floated and the action is bedded. Oh almost forgot, its a 270 WSM!
Pretty excited to get a scope on it and to the range these next couple of days.

Congrats!
Now go test drive it!
-
cool, whats the final weight?
-
The final weight is 6.5 lbs. Took it out shooting today just to bore sight it with some handloads i put together. Got it hitting paper at 60 yards this after noon. For how light it is it doesnt really kick at all. I loaded 130 grain Barnes TSX's with 62grs. of Reloader 17 pushing it, the average FPS was 3390! I was a little shocked since Alliant said 62 grains would only get around 3250 with a 130 grain bullet. Granted i was only shooting at 60 yards but its grouping real nice. Gonna take it to the actual shooting range this weekend and shoot it with my lead sled. So far im liking it though.
-
Tell me you've been to the range with that bad boy by now.. Nice overall weight. What scope are you puting on?

With the limited time we had before going to wyoming i just swapped over my 3x9 burris and worked up a load with 140gr accubonds going right around 3200 fps. In wyoming I shot a muley buck bedded down... he didnt get up, I also shot a bedded down antelope at 277 yards, he didnt get up either. Bullet and gun performed great to say the least.
