Title: colockum elk hunt
Post by: eastsidewa on March 24, 2011, 09:02:08 PM
Im new to this site and i just thought i start a discussion on the colockum elk hunting. tell me what you all think on the subject if you currently hunt this unit or if you used to hunt this area. as for me i used to hunt this area, but because of the pressure / road density / true spike rules/and the "native american" issue i now hunt another state. and i am here to say its worth every penny you pay to have a quality hunt. something has to change. What would you do?

You should probably start a thread in the actual elk hunting forum you might have better luck than the deer hunting forum.

read some other threads & you will find that the clockum is the prefered area to hunt elk in washington, if you are familiar with the area its a great place to start or you could look west and target the rossys

Yeah, you pretty much nailed all the issues in one sentence.

Are you an archer or rifle hunter?  They both have their problems...I live right on the edge of the unit and it takes me 15 minutes until I'm where I can legally shoot an elk but I only hunt it after work or if I only have a few hours in the morning.  Too many guys, true spike rule, and those that don't need to play by the same rules blazing away with rifles in archery season.  Lots of elk but too easy to hunt with too many open roads.  Notice I said "too easy to hunt" not "too easy to kill."
