I don't know about everyone else but I look forward to taking the kids out more than I enjoy hunting turkeys myself. Just curious who is venturing out this year with the kiddos. I have three kids to take out this weekend, my 15 year old stepson my 13 year old stepdaughter and my 7 year old who just passed his hunters safety class last week. Praying that the weather gets a little nicer down this way so it will be more enjoyable for the kids and the birds will be more vocal. What is everyone else doing?

I've got no kids but am tagging along with a buddy and his 2 youngsters to help call/film. We're headed up by Colville friday morning to try and locate some birds and maybe roost a few. I'm looking forward to it more than my season. Can't wait!!

Meeee. Can't wait to take my boy out for his first elk hunt. Drew a cow tag first year applying.

Holy cow, we can't wait either. Oldest boys 2nd year and the middle boys first year. Both are going to E.WA to get their does this year and, hopefully I am a good enough of a hunter to find some SW WA elk to get the oldest boy his first elk this year. We didn't even see any elk during modern last year.
The oldest boy has declaired "This is my last year hunting does". I figure, when he eats a tag for a few years looking for a buck, he won't care what he shoots.

Man I envy you guys, I am hoping if I can get the timing right next year to take the oldest out. I can't wait I don't know if he is excited about it as I am. I will tell you one thing, it makes me enjoy the time I get to spend hunting in Kansas with my Dad that much more.

So stoked to take our daughter out. She's 13 and just passed hunter safety. She's so jazzed to hunt with her dad and I. Her first statement was that she was going to be the first one with a mount in our cabin - in other words she was not taking a doe!! No competition in this family! :chuckle: But when she asked for a new gun prior to the hunt, I told her I wasn't going to buy a new rifle for her until she brought down her first deer, buck or doe. (No that's not the competition in me, that's just common sense!) She's good with gutting, skinning and all that but she may decide after killing one that it is just not for her. So she's decided she'll take the first nice size deer, buck or doe. Woohoo almost a guarantee for meat in the freezer this year - she outshot us the last 3 times on target!!!

I cant wait to take my 13yr daughter out hunting this year! She hunted last year, with no luck, but she drew a doe tag this year, and she is soo exited!! She thinks she is more exited than i, but we all know as parents, its all about them, their dreams, and their success!
I have a nice 150 class whitetail mounted on the wall by the TV. She stares at it all the time, and says she will have a Mule deer next to it, with a higher score, just to beat mine(i said the same thing to my father). With the determination in her eyes, she will!
