Biggest smallie was probably right around 5. Biggest largemouth was close to 10, from a crappy little pond in bellingham. I didn't haven't a camera and keeping her never crossed my mind. She was a friggin pig! Came back the next day and stuck a 5lbr on the same spot. Ill see if I can dig up a few pics later

Here are the biggest smallies that my fishing partners caught last season. (My son, Brother, and dear friend)
I'm not going to humiliate myself by posting my biggest last season...all three of them put me to shame!
(All these were caught here in the area)

Ill throw a few up there. These fish were caught in small local lakes from a float tube, not my biggest but there the biggest that I have loaded on this computer. The first two pics are of the same fish (sorry about the quality cell phone pics while in float tube) but just for reference the scale on the second pic goes to 20 inches. the third pic is just of a good solid 4 pounder. I would estimate the first bass in the high 5lb - low 6lb range.

My biggest largemouth was in the 16 pound range from Lake Casitas in California. I never weighed it, just slipped her back in the lake, she was FULL of eggs and ready to spawn. That was back in 1982 or 1983. Biggest smallie war right at 6 pounds from Island Lake in Shelton. Caught it on a worm that I made and was out testing a new color combo. All pics are in a box at my Mom and Dads somewhere.

Some real monsters. I think my biggest bass was a smallie from Riffe Lake on a perch Rapala, around 4 lbs. We had a huge lurker of a largemouth around my uncles dock on Lake Lawrence years ago that was over 2' long, just huge. I had him hooked briefly but he broke off :'(. Not sure I would have kept a big 'ol majestic bass like that, but it would have made a great picture.

Blkbearklr those are some true pigs! Nice work! I can't wait to get back out on lake wa!
-
Nice fish backyard buck. Moses hole holds some nice bass. The local tourney last year had around 40 smallies weighing over 4 lbs with some 6+. Can't remember the biggest.

I personally don't have a problem with people keeping bass like others do, but I think large mouth taste like rotten poo. SMB's (small ones) taste more like perch tho I think.
-
when I was young I use to always take my bass home and cook em up. The bigger the better. But now I'm too lazy and only keep them if I hook them to deep. Plus now I've got a sweet tooth for walleye. :chuckle:

Most any of the CR systems need the smallmouth harvest increased. I was 100% CnR by choice, not opposed to those who do - it's in the regs. But I'm beginning to keep some of the smaller redeyes b/c there are too damn many, not helping the fishery. I'd hope folks would let the bigger spawners go, but we could stand to weed out the smaller ones.

yeah like I said, in my opinion (humble as it may be), the bigger bass just taste nastier.

Screw her pops.. momma would be the hog I'd be looking for. PIG for sure. Nice fish!

That's awesome bullchaser! Definately the biggest one I've seen from WA. Wasn't there an article about her a year or two back in one of the local hunting mags? I don't think it would be possible for me not to do a skin mount on an 11+ from WA, but that's awesome you released her. Best of luck breaking the record this year.

oldie but still good
When I retired, I could hardly wait to spend time enjoying my favorite pastime -- bass fishing. I got my own little fishing boat and tried to get my wife to join me, but she just never liked fishing.
Finally, one day at the Bait & Tackle Shop, I got to talking to Sam, the shop owner, who it turned out loves bass fishing as much as I do. We quickly became fishing buddies. As I said, the wife doesn't care about fishing. She not only refuses to join us, but she always complains that I spend too much time fishing.
A few weeks ago, Sam and I had the best fishing trip ever. Not only did I catch the most beautiful bass you've ever seen, only a few minutes later Sam must have caught his twin brother!
So I took a picture of Sam holding up the two nice bass that we caught and showed the picture to the wife hoping that maybe she'd get interested. Instead she says she doesn't want me to go fishing at all anymore! And she wants me to sell the boat! I think she just doesn't like to see me enjoying myself. What would you do? Tell the wife to forget it and continue my hobby or quit fishing and sell the boat as she insists?
Thanks,
Lloyd
P.S. Enclosed is a picture of Sam with the two bass we caught:
