I had put a couple of these pics in another thread asking if anyone knew where to record hens. This hen had an 8 1/8 inch beard, the longest I have seen.

We had 14 guided hunters so far who bagged 14 birds. One hunter didn't get a shot, one missed, one passed about a dozen jakes and never got a big tom, and three guys got 2 birds. This works out to 100% success because of the 2nd birds the three guys got. Normally we run 130% success, so the hunting is not as good as most years, but we still have plenty of birds on a couple ranches we hunt and there are some birds in the right public land areas.
This morning we had two guided hunters out, and 7 shots were fired at 3 different toms, so there are still enough birds to get some good action. The guy has hunted with us for 10 years or more and gets at least one bird every year, so I am sure he'll get the next one. I always say "the eight time is a charm"... :chuckle:
It is cold here, yesterday it was 17 degrees in the morning, this morning it was 19 degrees, my hunters are freezing their butts off and that must be the reason one bird was missed three times at 20 yards when he landed coming off the roost. It has snowed both days but the sun keeps coming out and melting it off in the valleys.
I just took these pics during the last little snow storm a couple hours ago.

The guy who missed the 3 toms this morning just sacked up two jakes. I love it when a plan comes together.

Hunting is already better than it was opening day, birds are talking and moving around more daily. More hens are leaving toms, about 11 am the toms are talking pretty good cause the ladies left them.
