Title: ELK IN GMU 460?
Post by: MasterTracker on May 27, 2008, 02:33:42 AM
Does anyone know where in 460 would be a good spot to look for elk?  East of 203 in the markworth state forest and plum creek land wich use to be warehouser land.

There is  areally small herd in stossel crk. Not really huntable. If your going to hunt elk go up north bend. There are two herds there. One herd is about 75 head and the other I believe is just over a 100 head. They do how ever spend alot of time on nonhuntable private land or spend the $200 for a permit up hannncock old weryhauser. I grew up out there and spent many years hunting that area.

Ive seen a few up by Middle fork Snoqualmie.  But just cows.  They just know when to hang down on the valley floor where they are safe.

Having said that Middle fork is not a great place to hunt or leave your vehicle either.  High theft area for sure.

If I were you Id check out the areas off highway 18west from I90
