Title: Pearrygin Unit land ownership?
Post by: Cougeyes on April 17, 2011, 12:29:02 PM
Does the Pearrygin unit have a lot of public land where the migrators come through or does it hold a lot of public ground? Have a lot of deer points and am trying to narrow my 2 choices down.

Yes. Have you looked at GoHunt? I don't think a lack of public land is an issue in that unit.

A lot of private land with many hunters.  What's your next choice.

You've got to be joking?  Only 15 permits and plenty of state land and National Forest.  :dunno:

Hey If you ever draw this tag plan on killing something big.. my boys have 10 pts for this unit too... everyone of my friends who drew that tag all took nice bucks....and 4 of them were on the game dept. land ... which I used to know the owners of that land before they sold out ...  You will not have to drive 11/2 miles from town to bag a good one ...

I have 13 points for this years draws but haven't decided yet where to put in.  I have it down to 3 choices, just trying to learn a little more on a couple of the units before i submit my apps.  Thanks for the advice.

Yeah I know i thought i would draw last year since i put in for a unit that wasn't as popular but i know still held big deer.  No such luck, maybe in another 5 years i'll draw.

Every late tag unit holds big bucks.  Personally, I'd put in for the best genetic areas, and they aren't in the Pearrygin. ;)
