Title: spring bear hunting sign?
Post by: sled on April 18, 2011, 07:40:53 AM: Has anyone been out and seen any sign yet? I went out yesterday, the only thing i found was peeled trees from a year or so ago.
Also hit snowline in monroe unit at about 1500 feet.

Post by: saylean on April 18, 2011, 08:27:41 AM: Theres been a few on here who have seen sign. I havent seen anyone announce they've seen any in monroe yet. I am going to head out to monroe in a week or so with the camera, try to find some bears.

Good luck on your hunt. It'll get better the closer we get to May.

It must have been eating grass on the side of the road or it was going to cross in front of me and changed its mind. ill have to keep at it.

Post by: Todd_ID on April 20, 2011, 11:19:59 PM: I spent the day perusing the Lick Creek unit, and I found nothing for bear sign. Lots of deer, elk and other critters. Plenty of wolf sign, too. But no bear sign yet. I was up high hoping to find one that came out yesterday and forgot to be smart. However, up high wasn't too high today. The snow drifts still have the roads shut down everywhere I was. I'm heading in from below tomorrow!

Sorry to hear that, be sure and take pictures and collect samples of any wolf sign you see, tracks, droppings, hair on fence. If you don't want to report it, send any info to me and I will report it for you, with or without your name, however you desire. We need to report all areas where there are wolves. :twocents:
