Title: Your Favorite 3-d Course?

Next weekend I'm heading out to Grays Harbor and Lucky Shot on May 7th. Can't wait to try out the course at Lucky Shot. I've been shooting a lot at their indoor range.

Post by: DRENALINJUNKIE on April 19, 2011, 09:13:35 PM: Ya the lucky shot has alot of up and down shots. I think in may they have the 3-d course set up to shoot everyday. I Also like the more difficult courses with steep shots. Cedar River is a good one.

Post by: wormfood on April 19, 2011, 09:16:56 PM: I too belong to TSC and Upper Nisqually but Capital City has an extreme amount of variety ( up, down, flat, side hill, just about every shot possible but upside down) so Capital City gets my vote.

Post by: wormfood on April 19, 2011, 09:25:31 PM: Yup they have one. Flat range from 10 to 80 yards and a 19 shot walk through but the walk through needs some love after the winter we had, not many target faces left out there. Keep an ear out it should be gettin spruced up real soon.

Best shoot I have ever been to was the one George at the archey house put on up by Morton. Flying armadillo, timed elk, bear climbing a tree, and lots off uphill and dowhill shots.

The shoot that used be out at Jump-off-Joe meadows by Rimrock was fun, if you could stand the mosquitos..
as far as courses, I like the one in my back-yard (Lucky Shot) or the one in MY backyard (for real)

I like those. In the course redesign we are going to have a Looong Steep shot. I was walking the course after a workparty with our range master and i think we found a good place for a cross or side hill shot on a steep slope. I like the shots that mess with you balance and range judgment. Side hills make you lean, and steep up and down can really scew up you range estimation... :) :IBCOOL:

The nice thing that I like about Ted's course at Lucky Shot is that it is set up in many ways to be very realistic. Many shots are up or down, or through small gaps in the trees. It's not perfectly flat, with a wide upen shooting lane, with litte stakes in the ground that can help in range estimation like some I've been to.The other thing that is handy is that it's left up all summer long and changed occasionally. There's an honor box outside so you can show up any time with some buddies and hit the course. And you'll work up a nice sweat doing it.
