Title: tc icon price.
Post by: jkononen on April 20, 2011, 08:19:24 PM
So this last Saturday I won a t/c icon from the mule deer foundation banquet. It's a 300 win mag with a camo stock and the weathershield coating. The kicker is its a special mule deer foundation gun marked 1 of 100. And was told it would lose its collectibility if I shot it. It's a really nice gun, and I've been wanting a magnum rifle to shoot. I was wondering if anybody knew what it would be worth? Being whether I should shoot it or not...

That's what I was planning on doing. But if I could sell it and get the same gun plus some extra cash for another scope...possibly a nightforce. why not? Plus Somebody might appreciate the collectibility a little more than me.

I wouldn't buy another tikka... I'd buy another 700 before a tikka.  And that's what this post was about.. what's it worth? I'm gonna ask kesselrings when I pick it up on Friday. Just want to have an idea what to do when I get there already.

Tc Icon is a great gun, I have the same one as you in .308 and it's a tackdriver. Don't seem to have any collectors value yet as they are so new.I would shoot it or put it on gunbroker for you might get an extra hundred since it's a limited addition. Got mine new last fall for 500.00 since TC had a 150.00 rebate probably due to slow sales but I think it's a lot of gun for the money.

You won't sell that rifle for enough money to buy a Night Force. Maybe a Leupold vxII.
Cool rifle but not worth a lot of money.

Yeah, no offense, but the collectibility of that gun is pretty slim to be honest.  You would have to find that ONE guy who is collecting EVERY years MDF gun and hope that he didn't already buy one somewhere.  I would be surprised if you could honestly sell it after you pick it up for what the shelf price for a non-limited edition gun would be. If you've wanted a magnum gun to hunt with, then now you've got one. :twocents:

They sell new for around 450-600 with the rebates that they offer with them. You won't end up with enough money for a night force like said. But You might be able to get 700-800 out of it  :dunno:

Hunt with it if you want a mag. dont let the limited edition affect your decision. :twocents:

I wasn't expecting enough tor a nightforce just some to help. Thanks for all the replies. I didn't know much about these icons and the guys at the banquet were talking about the limited edition.  Looks like ill probably just put a vx3  4.5-14 on it and shoot it. Unless kesselrings will trade me for a .270 wsm that I like.
