Do you have to have your gun barrel threaded for rifles and buy a new threaded barrel for you pistols to use Suppressors?
-
dude I made one opinion on this once and no one liked it !!! hahahha
-
You can do that or send them in and have them threaded. Just make sure they have good tooling for machining down the end of the barrel and good threading tools. If your going to use one can for multiple guns look at titanium threads on your can. There's a few threads started under the class III section of the new waguns.org

You should go onto the shooting forms. Huge topic with lots of people buying them. There are so many people buying suppressors in the state now that there is a 12-14 week waiting period. If you mention it on this forum it never fails someone will assume your going to poach with it. Some don't understand that it may help out with noise conscious neighbors or save your hearing, etc. I wish they didn't require tax stamps or I would have one on all of my guns.

Not to mention all the Outdoor Ranges where this may dampen noise complaints. Look at all the development around the Kenmore Range....

hahaha yeah thats exactely what I mentioned last time (poaching) but I do like the sound of the rifle range issue..that would make alot of people happy !!!!

So, new threaded barrels for 1911's and Glocks? Also, I guess open sits are out once you put one on?
-
Doesn't have to be threaded, you can get a lugged design. Like on the MP5. Then you can get a quick release suppressor. As for concealed carry, there are a few compact handguns that have the barrel encased in the can, and the slide operates over the can. There is also one Russian design that directs the gas to a hidden suppressor. They are limited in suppressability. As for the poaching comments, I wouldn't assume that is what it is used for...I don't suspect poaching unless I see a compound bow (as that is what seems to be what most of the poachers in my area get caught with).

Are you talking about Ported barrels? They would make a suppressor kind of pointless..I hate ported pistols anyway. Unless it's a dedicated hunter or range gun..

Open sights are an option. Just need taller ones.

The barrel is flush w/the end of the slide. How would a Suppressor attach?

You need a new (longer) barrel with a threaded end, usually barrels intended for suppressor use protrude about 1/2" past the end of the slide.

There is an adapter that you can purchase. It runs from about $35 - $45 dollars. Many of the semi-autos will be threaded at the end, so when you caulk back the action it exposes the lug that you can screw off. About 3/4" then there is an adapter fitting that you can thread on that will extend it past the end of the barrel and allow for the size of the suppressor you have. Simple process. You can also go for the new barrels that extend past the end of the slide to eliminate the adpter fitting. They also offer suppressors that thread into the end of the barrel. 3 options to choose from.

Why not buy a barrel that is 3/4 of an inch longer then normal?

You can. That is one of the options. Use what you have and spend $35-$45 dollars or buy a longer threaded barrel for $150+. There are several options to work with.
