I took my 3 and 4 year old boys out with my Dad, Brother in Law, and nephew to Ohop for the trout opener. We do it every year and the kids have a blast. This year was no different. We ended up with 20+ fish in a couple hours. The real reason I am posting this is when I was waiting in line to launch, a guy walked up to our boat and talked with the kids and my Dad. I didn't get a chance to talk with him because I was in the truck and didn't think anything of it except he was just a nice guy chatting with the boys. So after I put the boat in the water, parked the truck, and got into the boat we are off fishing. A minute or so later my Dad says to me that the guy who was talking to the boys had given a brand new fishing pole to my youngest. And this is a nice fishing pole, not a $10 pole that my son was using. My brother in law said he buys a few poles and gives them to kids he sees every year. If you know this guy or you are this guy, Thank You and you made my boys day. Also, I'd love to tell him Thank You either through email or phone personally, so if you could get me his info I'd appreciate it.
On top of that, that new pole was the hot pole of the day. It is just nice to see goodness in a world that is full of garbage. Once again Thank You.

:IBCOOL: I also hope you find out who he is, but I am guessing even if he was a member of this board he wouldn't say. If he does this anonymously at a boat ramp he wont be fessing up here LOL... :IBCOOL:

very nice of the guy, did something thoughtful that will stick with your boy probably for the rest of his life, maybe your boy will do that to another kid down the road sometime now.
-
Yeah, you are all right. I probably won't hear from him or get his info, but maybe he will be there again next year. I can thank him then.

Just pass it on

Your right about sticking. When I was a wee young lad, my friend and I walked into a Taco Bell on a hot day in CA, with no money we just wanted a glass of cold water. I think we were about 7 or 8 y/o at the time. (nearly 40 years ago) A gentlemen came in just as we where ordering water (used to be free) and offered to pay for a lunch for the two of us. We ordered, he paid, we thanked him and he left. We talked about that day for years. I can still picture that guy in my head wearing a blue suit.
I think when this happens, we all should do the same and pay it forward, just as this nice gentlemen did!

Cool deal for sure.

Awesome story! There are still some really stand-up folks out there. Too cool!

That's cool. I am sure that the way he felt after doing a good deed was thanks enough.

I would bet the same guy was there last year he gave my 2 sons new rods and was the nicest guy that you would ever meet.
