Yes, it's one of their favorite foods. Doesn't have to be baby puss, a tentacle off a larger one works also. You can leave it down after a nibble cuz you know it will still be on your hook.

Rasbo ,

its a good bait i like to add scent to all my bait whether it is purchased gel herring formula, or my favorite is to just buy a couple jars of smoked oysters and thing of sardines and soak my bait in its juices for 24 hours, i also like putting the octopus in a ziplock adding the juice or gell and freezing it.   Its very sturdy only time i lose it is when the dogfish are chowing down.

its great bait its just like using squid, you wont have to worry about checkn it on a bumb, especially if you double hook it, leave the bottom hook as a trailor like you would a cut plug, its expensive if you gotta buy it though

It doesnt cling on the hook as well anymore because of the barbless rule, I even lost a piece of white halibut skin to the dogfish and that stuff aint easy to get on the hook let alone off.  :bash:

Rasbo who are you goin with out of lapush. are you goin to the "center of the C" or the south west corner either way you should get a 24-28 oz norway jig that is all you will need the jig kinda looks like a chrome banana and has a large trebble hook with a red piece of plastic on the shaft.  I have fished out there 9 years straight and unless you are on the "Rock Pile" you will not need anything else Good Luck Pm me if you need cordinates
