Is there a general elk season for elk in the judith mountains or are they in draw only units? I know there is a road that is a little east of Lewistown that goes right up into the mountains. I don't know how much private property is up there but there are elk.

Hello,
HD 411(south of Lewistown) has a general season for antlerless elk only, 412 directly north of this is a draw area.

Hey Rough,

I'll be right behind ya.  I'm hunting just SE of there.  If you want to know a good prairie dog spot just south of Broadus, let me know.  There's a million of 'em, all on BLM land.

I usually hunt the Little belts north of Townsend or down by Philupsberg but may have to hit North Western part by Noxon instead with fuel prices.

For me , im in it for the mule deer more than the elk, but i would still like a chance for some extra meat, even a cow.

Best to put in for some of those special bull permit tags.
