Title: fletching offset question
Post by: uplandhunter870 on May 15, 2011, 02:08:10 PM: i need to put some more/new arrows together and ill be doing the fletching myself this will be my first time fletching. im going to use an arizona flethcing rig but they come in a 1 degree offset or a 6 degree helical. what off set will be best?

i shoot three fletches of the short NAP quickspins through a drop away rest.

Post by: Todd_ID on May 15, 2011, 03:02:20 PM: Agreed. The 1 degree of offset is fine for a field point for target arrows but not enough for broadheads. 6 degrees helical will get them spinning up fast and flying true.

Post by: JBar on May 15, 2011, 03:15:52 PM: I'm not sure if it makes a difference but NAP suggests a offset not a helical. The little kicker fins on the fletch is designed to get your arrow spinning.

Post by: mallard79 on May 15, 2011, 04:10:47 PM: I use the EZfletch with the 6 degree helical and love it! Great for stablizing broadheads and very easy to use. I have been using the short Fusion vains and Blazer vanes and both work good. I probly won't ever shoot offset vanes again. :twocents:

Post by: BOWHUNTER45 on May 15, 2011, 05:36:04 PM: I shoot straight 4" fletching and always line up my 3 bladed broadheads with the fletching and never have trouble getting broadheads to fly true ..but this is everyones own opinion , either way its fine !~

Post by: Drifterat on May 15, 2011, 11:36:00 PM: I use the Arizona EZ fletch in mini right helical for my hunting arrows and love it. Quick, easy to use jig. But unless you really work to keep it clean it's a pain. I have a ultrasonic cleaner that I use to clean it, if I didn't I wouldn't use the Arizona jig.

I'm going to buy a Bitz and the assorted clamps to do right helical for hunting and straight for target/3D arrows.

Post by: Jason on May 18, 2011, 01:05:45 PM: Not sure about the Arizona, but when I setup and arrow on my Bitz I always try to get as much helical as it will let me and still keep the vain on the shaft :dunno: I'd say the more helical the better.
