I do not leave camp without my Dwight schuh backpack. the one i have is his original made my Kathy Kelly Designs. Now they are made by Fieldline. Badlands Ox is an excellent pack but is around 300-350. twice what the Dwight schuh pack costs. Good luck and happy hunting

I have heard from several people I trust (those who know there way around packs) that the new Dwight Schuh packs aren't really capable of the heavy loads. The original is okay but not the fieldline version. In fact, I can't think of a decent pack that fieldline makes. I would go with the Badlands Ox over the Schuh anyday.

Seems like the system has served WindyGorge well. The bit about the mouse chewing through your pack was funny though :chuckle: Did you send it back and have it repaired?
I personally like to leave the pack board at my truck and go with a pack that can carry a quarter out so I can pick up my pack board if needed.

hate to hear that. when i am at a point to need another pack i will look into both brands. i can't imagine it not being able to carry heavy loads, having the same frame and all. unless fieldline makes the shoulder straps wimpy. thanks for the heads up

The Dwight Schuh pack is fine. Personally I prefer external frames for hunting, the newer external frames have really good suspension systems (much more advanced than on the Schuh) and padding to keep the pack from eating into the back of your shoulder blades. I have the Cabelas pack that has the pack that removes from the frame like the schuh but it is made out of much lighter weight material that is water resistant and very durable. It also has a freighter shelf which is really nice for carrying tent/bed roll/sleeping bag etc.
I picked it up on sale for around $235 or so, I would recommend looking into that before spending the $350 for the new Schuh.
Cool video thanks for sharing
