I just checked and I'm number 64 on the deer alternates list, I wonder what my chances are of getting drawn?? Anyone know?

-
Way better than the guy that has 65 :chuckle: :chuckle:

But no I would say better than 50%
-
So what is the alternates list?  If someone decides they don't want to go and send there tags back in?

-
That's correct if someone decides that they are not going to be able to hunt and returns there tag back in the Mt fish and game dept they will contact somebody from the alternate list so they can re-sell the tag.

-
Just contacted the Montana F&W and found out they draw on average 100 alternate tags a year, Last year they drew 127, I'm sitting at 64, looks like I will be hunting deer in MT again this year  :IBCOOL:

-
I hope you do draw because I am sitting at 65!

If you still haven't been selected when the season opener is just about to start, you can call the MFWP licensing dept since they receive returned licenses from guys who can't use them.  I got lucky that way 2 years ago and bought a license over the phone 2 days before the opener.  Then drove to Helena and picked it up on the way over to hunt near Jordan, MT.
