Must be the photographer in us, I like the original as well. THen again I'm that way with other things as well, if they are nice ones that is. ;)

Were they shot in raw? If so you might be able to get some of the cloud detail back.
The processed ones are nice but a tad too much sharpening. Look at the trees in the top right. I go a little too far with photos up all the time in photoshop. It's a balance.

Yeah, the shots are completely raw with a little 3.1 MP Canon. The two Photoshopped pictures use different size crosshatch brush strokes to give it the painted look. It looks really cool when you blow it up to full screen on full resolution. Other than that, I am not very experienced at all with Photoshop so I don't really know anything else to do to it.
