Title: Lake Quinault Fishing derby
Post by: ouchfoss on May 31, 2011, 05:26:24 PM
I wasnt sure how many people know about the annual Lions Club trout fishing derby here at Lake Quinault so I figured Id get the word out. Its going on this coming Saturday and grand prize is $1000 plus a bunch of other fishing related prizes. Theres also a kids division as well as random drawing prizes too.  Good luck!

Im guessing there is no prizes for largest dolley varden this year. Kinda sucks cause there is a lot of them in the lake. Heres three that my dad got last monday plus a few smaller trout. He ended up getting 6 fish, losing three and had 3 other good bites and all I had was a little dink that came off right at the boat. Stupid thing is, he was using the same rigging I was using and had it the same distance behind the boat!  :bash: Oh well, thats part of fishing! Oh, and the biggest dolley we figured was between 3 and 4 lbs. Not bad.

We used to fish that lake a ton before the Indians closed it.  Our family friend had a cabin on the lake and we'd go over ther for the opener every year.  We used to kill the cuts and dollys.  If I wasn't having surgery this Friday, I'd head over.  Good luck to whoever heads over there.
