Title: shed hunting in yakima?
Post by: CoyoteCowboy on June 07, 2011, 10:15:43 PM: heading to Yakima this weekend for my fiance's sister's high school graduation. any good places to shed hunt this late in the season? just looking for somewhere to hike around for a few hours with a decent chance of finding some sheds...

any leads would be appreciated. :tup:

These guys just don't want you to be the one to find something they missed. I say hike hard and good luck! Just look for a spot that would have some wildlife running around. And yes watch out for snakes.

Never been there before but had heard stories and wanted to check it out. I saw five elk and found a shed within 20 minutes of leaving the truck. Beautiful area up there.

I have hunted the Naches area for over 20 years and have never seen a snake. Just wondering if this is joke to discourage people or if indeed I need to be on the look out ??? :dunno:

Finally seen my first snake last year durring early archery season.

It was dead on Rock Creek Rd, but it was a snake :yike:

Post by: Ridge Roamer on June 11, 2011, 08:54:13 AM: Stay off of rock slides - I almost stepped on one a few years ago, thanks to the rattle warning I jumped my way off back to the grass - it was a smaller slide, only about 20 feet across. Same thing happend to my friend the next year on a small rock slide. He jumped away also but wiped out & bruised himself a bit - got away from the snake anyway.

This was in an area a few miles up off the Columbia River on the Oregon side,

What time of the year are you hunting? Late fall and winter they are pretty much dormant.

looks like i have some exploring to do before next hunting season... Oak Creek here i come! :IBCOOL:

Post by: JColony on June 29, 2011, 12:06:17 PM: 2 years ago during the Elk muzzy season, found a small 6pt in an opening th size of a football field. Oak Creek might get picked over pretty good, but if you get away from the roads, there are still sheds to find.
