This will be my first year bow hunting for elk and my first time hunting in September. What works for those of you that hunt in that application. Recommendations from underwear to outerwear to rain protection would be great. I just got adjusted to hunting October and November but haven't been out in the early fall yet. Thanks.

For September, I've usually gone with light weight quick-dry pants, and a loose comfortable shirt. Then throw a light windbreaker jacket in the pack. Most of the time I'm in short sleeves, too. I wear a small backpack to carry the light jacket and a small vest if it gets cold enough, but so far hasn't.

I've really been liking the military surplus pants I got. They dry really quickly, and I love having the cargo pockets. You can find some good deals on ebay. You can buy new ones for right around $20, sometimes less.

There's a guy on here who swears by a mole skin thong. You might want to look him up and ask him about it. I can't mention his name but it starts with a R and ends with an O.

September can be still warm or it could be very wet. I would definitely pack some rain gear.

Ya, the rain gear was what I was something I was wondering about, its essential later in the fall but I wasn't sure about Sept.

id definitely have some lightweight rain gear in my pack just in case. dont forget the bug spray.

Well for me I start with my under armour briefs, then if it is cold I wear my under armour base 1.0 with the sitka ascent pant, shirts I go with under armour tee over base 1.0 if cold or tee and then sitka core zip t followed by the sitka 90% jacket and I pack the sitka Stormfront jacket and pants for rain gear.
