Title: .357 sig?
Post by: D-Rock425 on June 12, 2011, 08:53:45 PM: I found a Smith & Wesson m&p today in 357 sig. Does anyone have one or shoot 357 sig. The gun comes with a conversion barrel for 9mm too. Any info would be helpful.

Post by: CementFinisher on June 13, 2011, 12:39:30 AM: I have a smith & Wesson M&P 357 Sig and a Sig sauer p226 elite black 357 Sig. The round is basically a 40S&W necked down to accept a 9mm bullet. You can load them very hot. I would suggest a full size pistol for this round. Its snappy, if you are at all recoil shy you wont land your shots where you need to. i like the round, I'm still partial to the 45acp and 44mag

If you read up on it, lots of articles will talk about premature barrel wear, and possible ramp issues with the necked cartridge.

Factory fodder is knocking on the back door of the 357 mag, handloaded, it will equal or better it with same length snouts. Snatch one up and let us know what you think. Later

It comes with the conversions kit for 9mm. 5 mags (2 9mm) (3 357) a holster and 3 different grips. The trigger has been redone and sights upgraded.

not sure but it is way smother then the factory trigger.

Neither ammo is readily available, and although the .357 Sig is a great cartridge, it has failed to become popular. If you do get one, be sure to stock up on reloading gear for it, as that may be the only way you'll get to shoot it before long.

good point never thought about that.

Sig dies and some .40 brass, cain't be too difficult.....

Post by: FC on June 14, 2011, 02:18:39 PM: It's a hotter round than 38 Super, very flat shooting and accurate. From a defensive standpoint it's like having a semi-auto 357 mag, try it and I bet you like it! I left an ammo link above.

They are to close ballistically, but the coolness would be a good reason, just cuss, lol

I would definitely do as others said and buy up as much ammo I could. You never know how long the "not as popular" calibers will stay around.

Post by: yorketransport on June 17, 2011, 10:40:48 PM: I just picked up a Sig 239 in this caliber a couple of days ago. I thought that it might be fun to play with for a while. I had no idea how hard it would be to find ammo locally. I didn't want to buy the reloading dies and brass for a gun I only plan to have for a while, but it might be the best way to go about this. So I'll go along with everybod else and say you should stock up on ammo or reloading components.
