Im here to tell you guys that the game department is handing out tickets for parking at wfdw boat launch during a free fishing weekend for not showing your parking permit on your vehicle. It is not legal to do according to what their free weekend discribes.. If you get a ticket fight it..
-
What a joke, with no liscence you get no parking pass. The weekend is to get more people outdoors. NOT TO MAKE A BUCK
-
I talked to the officer that handed the ticket out and he dropped the ticket and said that i should be happy to get it dropped to a warning..
-
They do anything to bring in more revenue. But free fish day may not include the free parking most public access for hiking or boating ask u to display one for using there access....Still pretty petty :bash:
-
maybe he didn't realize it was free fishing day.
-
I agree. Petty. Right or wrong per regs, still petty.
-
Just another example that ANY state agency does not think out new rules or laws that need enforcing! :bash: Management after the fact...
-
If any of you hunt which probably most do you'd still have the permit.
-
Proof that common sense and the rights of the average man have up and LEFT THE COUNTRY! :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

The WDFW needs to communicate better in house. Unbelievable....entice folks to fish free with their kids, then write tickets for not having a parking permit that comes with a license, that you don't need.
To the agent that said you should be happy with having made a warning....he needs a warning....like in do you job or move on. We don't need any more "I'm the almighty law" types. If anyone got a ticket, write the freaking Governor and complain. That creates a response back to the Governor's office from WDFW. Paperwork pain in the ass for the Enforcement chief. It's the best way to make them aware of some stupid decisions by field staff.
-
hey just an update guys. The wildlife officer just called me back after I called him this afternoon. I told him to look at the hunting webpage for washington state and click on the "weekender report." Go to the 3rd paragraph down. you guys will see what I am talking about. It says that free fishing weekends you do not have to have a parking permit. He did apologize again and again and again and again. It sure is nice to be right once and awhile.
-
Way to go!! i like the warning statement,,, what a joke! At least you got an appoligy.
Funny thing is, how many paid the ticket, without contesting it.
-
Please tell everybody about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
If any of you hunt which probably most do you'd still have the permit.
Not neccesarily. Not everyone applies for special tags so not everyone buys their licenses in the spring. A lot of people wait til later to buy their tags and wouldn't have a pass yet.
-
I checked and they didn't print out my vehicle use permit. I have a handful of all kinds of tags/licenses, and that is the one they forgot.
-
What is worse is that we are paying law enforcement a ton of money every year to be a meter-maid. If WDFW wants meter-maids, they should go hire someone to drive around in a cheap right for $10 per hour to give out parking tickets. It makes no sense to pay a game warden as much, and pay for the truck, to write parking tickets at trout ponds.
-
I believe with the discovery pass they made parking tickets writable by any employes of wdfw, Sate parks, OR DNR...
