What can I expect? Anybody have a clue on this?
-
Something like this, or better.
-
In my dreams, right...
-
If you are not looking for something like that in there, you are waisting that tag.
-
Trust me, I'll be looking for that. Are they plentiful or will I need to hunt my a** off?
-
u get drawn for modern?
-
yes
-
what time?
-
November 12-18, I believe.
-
ahh i prefer early but that is still a good hunt... good luck i put in for eastern and got drawn for bethel (gmu 360)
-
Or this. Killed 3 years ago by my bros', pards, father-in-law. Real cool dude, awesome bull, very well deserved.
-
I wish they offered that tag to archery guys. Rifle only draw sadly enough.
-
Not too sad to me at this point. I'll actually be pretty happy with my 300win mag.
-
I would be to. You gona go in at Lester?
-
I don't know. Should I? I really need to figure out the access issue, that's why I posted this. I assumed checking in and out each day would be required? Are there multiple access points? Also, is there any pre-season scouting allowed? I suppose some phone calls on my end are in order...
-
Sage,
Congrats on the tag. You scored the best westside bull tag bar none! I have hunted the shed for deer, and I have a friend who drew the last tag before the shut it down back in 99. He shot a beautiful 6x7 on the opener. Rumor has it some guy shot a massive 360 + bull last season. I saw a pic of it at Work Sports in town. The picture is now gone, but it was MASSIVE. There is no scouting because it is a restricted area. You will see lots of bulls.
Get a good one!
Best of luck! Bryan Flintoff

Thanks Bryan. I'm pretty excited! Don't want to consider it a slam dunk though. Have you deer hunted it any time recent? PM me if you'd like.

You can't go in through Lester. You do have to check in and out every day at the Headworks on the North side of the river or up through Massey's gate on the south side. I'm sure you already know but you won't be able to do any scouting before or camping inside the watershed gates during your hunt. They will send you a packet a few weeks before the hunt explaining most everything. You can also only take one helper with you but the Watershed patrolmen are pretty good at giving a hand if you need it. You can also usually take one bear and or a cougar if you have the tags but you can't shoot anything else including the many grouse you will see on your hunt. Hope that helps...........Les

If you have a really good spotting scope I know a couple places that you can look into the watershed from. It is not as great as putting in the foot work but it is something. I have seen lots of elk from these points
-
I'm all over it. Send me a PM if you don't mind sharing.
-
Anybody know if they still log in the watershed?
-
Yes they still log in the watershed, I have a friend that works for Wiess logging. Hope I spelled it right.
-
I figured Lester was the easiest access point, but I havent hunted the watershed so dont take my advice. ive hunted the border at Lester though
-
How did the hunt go?
-
A friends mom killed a good one in there this year
-
Back to the top? Anything Sage?
I used to have to go in there quite a bit near Lester to go collect hounds that were lost in there... and when I worked for Weyerhaeuser i used to be in there a fair bit and have seen some dang nice bulls, maybe 340-350 top end... there are bigger though.
