well I've been reading about it happening to others on here and felt bad, but never thought it would happen to me right now. My cams were on private property in the middle of a bunch of private property's at my father in-laws house, tracking which bucks I have for my kids to shoot this year. i had my 1 month old bushnell stolen, the SD card stolen out of my 39.95 walmart pos cam, and his 3 point auger for putting in fence post. We figure the damn thieves snuck into the property from the back side got their picture taken noticed the cam stole it saw the other cam and took the SD card cause the camera isn't worth anything so i didn't have any pics of them on it and then brought up their truck to steal the tractor 3 point. good news is dip#%its left finger prints on the pos cam. no they were not in lock boxes or my normal 10ft in the air, didn't think I would have a issue on private property. :bash:
-
Well I hope they get caught and you get justice. There finger prints are probably already in the system because most times "once a dirt bag, always a dirt bag"
-
Sorry to hear that. I've got four out right now- three on private and one on state. I'm sure one of these days I'm going to find one of them missing. I don't have any of them locked and have no plans of doing so, but I do put them in really secluded spots where I wouldn't expect many people to go.
-
Sorry to hear that. Hope you catch the scum bags.
-
It sucks but the cops agree the trail cam was not the entended target, it was the 3 point but when the cam went off they grabbed it and found the second one and took the sd card cause the cam wasnt worth anything. think the worst part was the kids were excited to see what deer were coming in after two weeks.. Thanks everyone next purchase a lockbox i guess..
-
Yea everyone thinks they put them in secluded spots. Better to be safe than sorry

Dare i ask,,,,did the cops do a fingerprint test?? I would imagine they wont. Stolen cars, to boat motors, they wont waste the expence.
If this is the case, why do we call them? I think i would find them faster, and better punishments!
Friend of mine got his honda 4 stroke stolen. Looked on craigslist, and found it for $200.(a $1200 motor) Called the cops, and said he found it on CL. The cop didnt want to confront the thief!!! My buddy had to go confront the guy at his house get it, then the cop would show up! Then arrested the dirtbag! WORTHLESS if you ask me, i bet he was out the next day!
Hope you get your auger back, and make an example of the thief!

I feel your frustration sebek556! Some people seem to live to a different code these days. I have put my cameras back to the same spot they were stolen with locks and braided cables. I am in a secluded spot too. Right now the grass is about 6ft tall and it is easy to get turned around. My guess is that nobody will be back there soon. But then again I didn't think 2 of my cameras would get ripped off.
Good luck with the lock boxes! Sorry to hear another story of camera theft!

Sweet that you buddy confronted the thief longknife! I think some confrontations is the only way cops will show up! If you don't have enough motivation to do something about it they won't!
I know an individual that one had his stereo stolen... He figured our who it was and confronted the thief... The thief pulled a 22 revolver on the victim. The victim said " What are you going to do with that? Tickle me?" He then snatched the gun out of the thieves hand and Beat the $hit out him with it.. Grabbed his stereo and left.
While i don't necessarily advocate doing this i think it IS important to stand up to punks that steal from us. :twocents:

Longknife do you live in island coutny :chuckle: The cops here are worthless as well.

Sebek, if you catch the dirtbag, I hope you can auger a hole and stuff him down it.

Sad to say, we've got a whole generation, maybe more, of lowlifes that spend all their time looking for stuff to steal. It's reaching a point where the only way to stop it is the SSS justice system. That's one reason I got an infrared trail camera, put it in a lockbox in a remote spot, and still think it will eventually get ripped off or trashed.

DAMN close, Stanwood! :bash: :bash: :bash:

sorry to hear about your stuff being stolen and i hope u get it back.
as much as i think the justice system is broke and really think vigilante law works better. i hope the cops get off there dead buts and get them before you have to, to get your stuff back. confronting a thief often gets Innocent people hurt (normally the person that got ripped off) :twocents:

Yeah, lets all bash the cops for "not doing anything"... :bash:

In my short 29 year lifespan, I have had cops fingerprint all 3 times Ive called them out relating to stolen car items :dunno:
Lets not blame the cops!!
-
Woodinville,,,, might explain it!
Have had work truck stolen, wrecked, the thief knocked another guy out, and stole his van, and no fingerprints in either was taken.... Something not rite in N. snohomish county!!! Glad you got fingerprints for STOLEN ITEMS THAT WERE IN THE CAR.

actualy after how dissapointed my kids were about not having any trail cam pics of "their" bucks I'm thinking of putting the auger where there is a hole already, generaly located on the rear side of a person aka forth point of contact, then turning it on..

Add a little razor ribbon!!!

Sebek556- There are so many jackholes out there. I am very sorry to hear about your personal situation. Too many people lack cuth/respect for other folks. Karma will catch up to them! I hope you recover what is yours and your kiddo's tag that buck!

At least we know what the police in King County will be doing with their time, checking for life jackets. It is far more important than checking for thieves.
-
Sucks I dont understand people now. Ive ran across lots of trail cameras and always left them alone.
-
I normally wave and BA them! :chuckle:
