If someone who is drawn for a second deer tag, but chooses not to purchase it by the deadline, do they offer the tags to the next in line that didn't get drawn like Multi season tags? Seems to me they should.
-
Is there a deadline?

Well I guess I'm not sure about that either. Someone told me there was but I don't consider them a good source. I can't find anything in the regs about it.

:yeah:
I think that you essentially have until the last day of the designated second deer hunt to purchase the license/tag.
-
There is no deadline to buy the second tag. If unsought or unfilled it doesn't matter. Just like any other unused permit.
Same as guys who draw a quality and antlerless. One will go unused.

Cant say I agree with that logic, but oh well. No hope for me now...thanks for crushing my dreams! :chuckle:

You confused me. :dunno: the tags will not go to another person if not purchased. Maybe I didn't use the right words.
-
I think he was hoping the tags would go back up for sale and he could purchase one over the counter.

Ahh gotcha..

and we have till Sept. 1st to buy multiseason tags. buying mine next month. i dont think those open for resale either if they dont sell them all. thats why they drew 4000 deer.

I think you are right, A few years ago though they would run a second or ever third drawing to try and sell all the permits, but they have stopped doing that now and just issue more permits to start with.

I think it's been said but there's no deadline for purchasing the 2nd deer tags. I put in for a 2nd deer tag hunt, and if drawn, I was just going to wait until I used my general season tag on a buck, and then buy the 2nd tag. If I didn't use my first tag I wasn't going to spend money on the 2nd tag. But I wasn't drawn so that idea went out the window.

If a person draws a quality and antlerless permit for the same species, one won't necessarily go unused. You can participate in both hunts, just can't harvest an animal in both.

right, but the other that you didnt harvest on wont go to anyone else. kind of the same... but kind of different too.

Yeah, and I agree, and I wish it wasn't possible to draw more than one permit per species.

Just shows that the 2nd deer tag is not a population management tool so much as it is a money making tool for WDFW....... :twocents:
