They are great little scopes. they are great bang for the buck scopes and are beating out leopould when you compare glass in the same price range. this is probably why lupy had to put so much stock into the redfeild as their budget line of scope.
I personally watched my father in law drop a whitey at 390+ yards using his BDC reticle and actually did it again almost the same shot this past year. He has the buckmaster on a W.Vanguard 300wm.
I put the prostaff's on both of my wifes rifles and they have done great so far. (Stevens 7mm08 and CZ550 Luxus 30.06) she has killed with them but hasnt had to use the bdc yet. they have been holding a zero great since she shoots 3 leaf clovers all day long with her cz.
for a scope for just plain day hunting for under 200 bucks i'd either go with a prostaff or a redfeild. when you get closer to 300+ dollar price range i would definatly go for some nicer glass like minox or meopta.

Huntlakewood bought one after using Rocky's gun and loves the scope also.

If you think about how flat the ballistics are on that cartridge, i would think it would be even more than normally necessary to see what the true drop is on that cartridge compaired to the BDC reticle because it may be a bit farther from exact than normal due to how flat that cartridge will shoot even with zeroing at 200 yards. with a maximum dead on hold of probably something like 340 yards, unless your consistantly taking 500+ yard shots i would think that a BDC reticle would be fairly useless, and if you are taking 500+ yard shots (when at some point the ability of that cartridge to make a clean kill becomes questionable to some) you would need the precision of pre measured lateral adjustments via your turrets rather than a generalized BDC reticle.

Yes I already have the 270 wsm and I guess I'm only looking for a scope for plain day hunting. The max I think I'll even shoot out is 350 yards. I was just wondering how the BDC system has been for others experiences.

I dont know you Piledub, but i have a question and further thoughts on the subject.I don't think that this is really that big of an issue as people are making it out to be. With Nikkon's spot on program on their website you should be able to figure out what distance each circle will be used for. It may not be even hundred yard intervals but it's a good reference point and something to look into. :twocents:

he says the max he is shooting is 350 yard, thats probably around the first circle. rest of the reticle won't be used
If I practice more on long distance, then I might need it. ;)
