I drew the multi-season elk tag this year so i put in for multiple tags for all seasons, i was lucky enough to draw a archery bull tag and a muzzy cow tag. never had this prob before i am an avid bow hunter so if i have to choose its and easy one but i am not sure if i have to pick one???? help!

I think it's either bull tag or cow tag because you don't have a second elk tag. :twocents:

Here are the Q&As from the WDFW website. It looks like only regular seasons for the multi-season permit. Special draws would be separate.
Q. What is the multiple-season hunting permit?
A. The multiple-season hunting permit allows a hunter to hunt with all three weapon types, archery, muzzleloader, and modern-firearm during the general hunting seasons for deer and/or elk.
Q: What are the rules for multiple-season permit holders?
A: Multiple season permit holders must abide by all general season rules for the hunt in progress. The permit holder must also follow all the general season rules for archery during the general archery seasons, muzzleloader during the general muzzleloader seasons, and modern firearm during the modern firearm general seasons.

You can hunt both seasons using the equipment (and during the dates) for which the permit is valid. You can only harvest a total of one elk so if you tag a bull you're done hunting. If you don't tag a bull you can take up your muzzy and go shoot a cow.

Three seasons - archery, too.

Basically, you can hunt all seasons(rifle, muzzy, and archery) but you can harvest only one elk (either a bull or a cow) and then you are done with your elk tag.
Happy hunting :)

You're right but he has an archery bull tag and a muzzy cow tag. If he can't fill either of those permit tags before the modern firearm season maybe he should stay home and watch football??? Just kidding. Shoot a big bull with the archery tag so you don't have to worry about the cow tag or the sea of orange you will face in the modern season. Good luck. :hello:

Clarification: You can only hunt the bull during the archery bull PERMIT season dates and the cow during the muzzy cow PERMIT season and if you don't shoot an elk during those seasons you can go hunt the general rifle season. The multi season tag does not allow you to hunt whatever weapon you want during a specific permit season for other weapons.

I guess I missed the archery part lol :bdid:
-
You will get 2 permits in the mail, you will only have 1 transport tag (You already have that). You fill it as you choose during the appropriate season with the weapon specified for that permit. You don't have to choose ahead of time.

Sweet. You lucky s.o.b. ...... :)
Should be a great season for you. Congrats on the multi, bull, and cow permits.

thanks everyone for the clarification on this issue i appreciate it good luck to all this season

Going into the season knowing I just burned up my points for two categories and have to eat at least one tag is anything but lucky to me. :twocents: Good luck on whichever you choose though.

It is all in your perspective. If he hunts hard for the archery bull and can't quite get it done then he has a backup permit hunt for muzzy cow.
Now, if he fills his tag on the archery permit, then I guess that would be unlucky that he blew his points on a cow permit.
-
I wish i had your problems :chuckle: :chuckle:
fill the bull tag, if tag soup there go find that cow....
good luck
-
Can you turn one of the tags down and keep your points? :dunno:

Negative.
Not in Washington.

I know a lot of people who would love to have a dilemma like yours. I am happy for your difficult situation and have total faith that you can shoot your way into something that will fill your heart and your freezer. :)

I guess I have to say "Thank You!" Now that you've used up all your points I just might have a chance in 2012 :IBCOOL:
Have a GREAT time. I'm excited for you!
