Title: .223 Blanks
Post by: h20hunter on June 24, 2011, 02:40:20 PM
Will .223 blanks run like normal ammo? Could a guy buy some, load up a 30 round mag and let 'er rip? No real reason why I want to, just wondering. If so, how is enough back pressure built up to cycle the bolt/carrier?

Nope you need a blank adapter to hold enough pressure to cycle the action. Side note: those are highly corrosive and will dirty up an action like you can't believe.

YA GOT THAT RIGHT, training missions were the fricken worst, made it to where i wouldnt even fire if thatwas all we had, cause it took along ass time to get your weapon clean enough to turn in :twocents:

I cannot count how many times we returned from training and how many cans of carb cleaner we went though...  :chuckle:

Yes, if you are firing on an AR platform (or any other semi-auto) you need a blank adaptor.  They might work in a bolt action though :dunno:.
Woodchuck is right on about the carbon buildup though.  I still have nighmares about cleaning M-16s after blank firing missions.... :yike:

If you want semi-auto you have to use the plug on the end of your gun. They will work singal action. Clean-clean and clean some more. :chuckle:

Don't tell the armor that we also put them in the solvent tank, or that we bead blasted the bolt carrier and chamber of the M2.....  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

on a side note a blank and a cleaning rod will take out small game like a squirrel at close range

They also do nothing to a charging armadillo that has came into your GP small.  :chuckle:

I never seen a big, bad ass SF candidate hop onto a cot and scream like a little girl like that before.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

He emptied a whole magazine of blanks at it while standing on his cot.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
