Went clamming this morning. As we were leaving, the game warden showed up. There were about 15-18 Filipino's following us back to the parking lot. 3 of them saw the game warden and turned around and headed back to the beach. The warden ran after them and caught them, rounded all 15-18 people up, and started checking limits and licenses. I was able to stick around long enough to know none of them had a license, and after watching them for a couple of hours, I can imagine they were WAY the hell over their limit. Clams, oysters, and mussels. Gamey made some cash for the state today.

Your assuming that they would pay the fines :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Only wish I would have had cell service. I would have called them in 2 hours before the gamey showed up. clam limit is 40 per person. I saw every person with a 5gl bucket (like the law says) but 2 of them were full. When I got home, I fit 4 limits into less than half of 1 5gl bucket.

My parents and I showed up right as doublej and his family was headed out and by the time we were done clamming they were still writing tickets. :mor: there was even one guy who i assume lived on the beach open carrying a glock with a high cap mag like 20 or 30 rnd going up to the different groups of Fillipino's and yelling at them to "cover the holes" he didn't even look at us. I hope they got them for everything possible!

I'm pretty sure they'll not pay the fines. It would have been nice for the gamie to be able to turn it into an instant chain gang and make them do a days work cleaning the beach, fixing the holes, repairing docks, etc...

Hope they get whats coming to them

I hope the clams were also retured to the surf and not in one place for them to be harvested on the next low tide.

Crazy huh and they worry about us white guys poaching a couple !!!! :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm sure you are not saying that poaching a couple is acceptable? Sarcasm yes?

This gamey was by himself. He had so much to deal with when it came to this huge family I think I could have come up from the beach with 3 dead wolves and a bag of spotted owls and he wouldn't have noticed.

By the time we were leaving there was a sheriff along with the game officer so hopefully they caught a bit more than what just the game officer would have on his own. my dad and i went back today and there was a family group of 10 or 12 islanders they were leaving as we showed up as we passed each other we made small talk and asked if they had a clam gauge or regs and what not then told them about yesterday and how these people all got tickets they were like yeah yeah we have everything in order but then they stopped at the end of the beech before the parking area for close ten minutes so i looked at my dad and said gee i wonder what their doing
-
How'd you do today?
-
Great it only took us about 15min of solid digging to get both our limits and we of course checked all of our clams but it was unnecessary you could easily tell they were well above the legal min size. kinda anticlimactic it happens so quick :chuckle:
-
Takes longer to drive from Gig Harbor doesn't it?
-
oh yeah 8)
-
BTW, we are talking about Camp Burton in Kong county
-
oh yeah
Next time grab the neighbor kids and get their limits too :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Ate the mussels tonight. AWESOME!!! I'd suggest getting a few lbs. Mussels in white wine/garlic sauce over linguini :yike: :yike: :yike:
