Anyone familiar with Kodiak? I need some insight and advice. I'll be headed to Kodiak (work) for about a week. Leaving about 5 JUL. I have some flexibility on my return date and would love to bring home a box of fish. I plan to fish off the road system as much as I can during the work week, but would really be interested in getting a guide for a day or two, to get me into the more remote fishing, If I can find someone available this late in the day that wont cost me an arm and a leg. Might not get an opportunity like this again and I don't want to waste it. Any guides or DIY recommendations would be really appreciated.

I have been to Alaska a few times, but not to Kodiak.. If you were to take me with you, I would be more than willing to investigate the fishing and the guides in the area for you :IBCOOL:

Been a while, but used to get to Kodiak regularly. Good friend ran a charter, but has moved.
I fished the Buskin River, which is almost in town and gets good runs. Also the Pasagshak River which is near the end of the road. Like most places, timing is everything. Early July there should be reds and possibly kings in the streams. There are also lots of dolly varden, which can get suprisingly big.
The best thing going will be the salt water action. Halibut fishing is great anytime. There are kings in the 30-50 pound class, more than a few. Since you will be up there I encourage you to find a reputable charter operator and get out on the salt for 1 day hali and 1 day salmon.
