Title: Body Language Decoys
Post by: terrellwa on June 29, 2011, 08:23:15 PM
My great wife bought me some new decoys, like I needed more, but these things are so life like I am sure someone will put the sneak on them at least once.  She got me a dozen Super magnum mallards and a dozen Widgeon all fully flocked of course.

They are good as long as the flocking stays on.  Keep them individually bagged an you should do good.  I had the weight rub on a few of mine and rubbed the flocking off.

Michael,

You've got a great wife indeed. I'm still debating on what new gear to buy this year. Decoys is on that list. I know a lot of guys love the dakota's, not sure how flocking and bags would fit in with the way i hunt. Lol. We should get together sometime and shoot or something duck related.

those are awesome decoys!!! ME WANT

my decoy bag consists of mallards teal and widgeon. its all greenhead gear, and i think ive spent maybe 200$

i got this set called the "mallard confidence pack" and it came with 2 standers feeders and sleepers (https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.cabelas.com%2Fis%2Fimage%2Fcabelas%2Fs7_420463_999_01%3Frgn%3D0%2C0%2C2000%2C926%26amp%3Bscl%3D5.2631578947368425%26amp%3Bfmt%3Djpeg%26amp%3Bid%3D16jgQ_Da4CrprVOXpoVQf4&hash=116505ab772e97323c8742172ae9ea306461c6b1)

i also have some widgeon/teal doing duck stuff (feeders, sleepers, one drake with its neck stretched out on watch) and so on and so forth...  an oldtimer told me that having variety in species, size, and actions can make or break a hunt- so how ive been selecting my decoys

i want to get some flocked decoys however. just.....like......those

I have a dozen of the flocked head Dakotas as well but these are just awesome.  These mallards would not work well on a pack in hunt they are 22 inches long and HEAVY, will be great to use on the bay.  I have a couple dozen of the Drake Double Duty decoys as well and I like those a lot, just don't put the keels on them.  The Double Duty move with little to no wind and are pretty lite to carry.  I am thinking of sending them off to be fully flocked and painted.  I had plans this off season to flock about 10-12 dozen myself but it is very time intensive and Don's comes out so much better I will just send a few dozen to him to be flocked and painted.  I really want to send two dozen of my full bodies to him they would look great in the field fully flocked and not many people have them so they will look different from everyone else.  I can't wait for the season I have been working hard in the duck shop getting everything ready.

Yes I have seen all their pictures and have been talking with Don and Caleb quite a bit.  I should have another dozen of the regular size mallards and 1/2 dozen of pintails soon just waiting for them to be painted then shipped.
