Title: Switching my tags
Post by: herdbull33 on July 05, 2011, 07:54:03 AM: will the state allow you to switch a modern firearm elk tag for an archery elk tag if you didn't put in for anything? I only have the first half of september to hunt so I thought maybe i'd try and switching?

Post by: B.G.hunter on July 05, 2011, 08:17:23 AM: If you have not put in for a drawing in that species, you have until the first day of general season for that weapon in which your tag currently is to switch it. So you should have until October or whenever the first modern elk season opens to change to archery.

Post by: B.G.hunter on July 05, 2011, 08:42:35 AM: you can do this at any dealer in the state but the dealer has to call Olympia for approval. So has to be a weekday between 8-5.

Post by: lokidog on July 05, 2011, 09:57:22 AM: Like said, yes. I had to go from archery to rifle a couple years ago as I messed up my elbow in the spring. Luckily, I had forgotten to apply for an elk tag that year.
