I'm going to be busy this weekend with a yard sale, so I won't be able to respond too often, but I've got a guy threatening to pay me a bunch of money for some guns I don't use!!! So, naturally, I'm going to take this windfall and buy more guns!
I need some recommendations from guys who've handled the firearms in question. I'm going to make two of these posts.
This one is concerning interchanging barreled single shot rifles...
I'm dumping my Contender! (Gasp!) It's just too hard to break open. I love the interchanging barrels but want more options in bigger calibers. I also want my sons to use it later on, and they just wouldn't be able to open the Contender. My 14yo nephew is a brute of a kid and he had trouble with it.
So, I'm probably going Encore. But I wondered what's the difference between the Encore and the Pro Hunter Encore? Do their barrels interchange? Is the Pro Hunter that much better?
And does anybody here have that new Knight KP1? Is it any good?
Somebody shed some light here!

Sorry, I don’t have any answers for you, just another question. Is the KP1 WA legal with the .50 cal barrel?

I don't believe there's any difference in the frame and barrel between the 2 Encore models. Think it's mostly just the stock config, costmetics, and some extra features in the Pro. Don't make any bets on that though. I don't have any first hand experience with them... just some reading.
Know nuthin about the Knight.
Why is your contender so hard to open?

The old ones just were, as I understand it. I got a new 7-30 Waters barrel for it (need to sell that now, thinking about it...) with the split lug, and it opened easier. Still not easy, but easier.
I handled an Encore, and man... it was smooth as glass.

I have a Encore in the 30-06 caliber. Would like to get a couple other barrels

I have an Encore Pro Hunter and they tell me there is a difference in the frames. However I love that gun, and plan to get more barrels for it. I have the 22-250 and 300 win mag now. I had a muzzle added to the 300 barrel but it sure is a nice rifle.
